I'm slightly concerned that Verlander was pulled so Detroit couldn't shut them out. He only allowed 2 hit's all game. Valverde allowed 1 or 2 already.
Edit: Tigers win!!

They pulled Verlander b/c its the first game, no need to keep the bullpen rested or anything. He did a heck of a good

Almost costed the first game though. I wouldn't have expected Valverde to blow it like that tbh.

I remember watching Valverde all last season just waiting for him to blow one.
He'd look dominant at times, but most of the time he would let people on base then MIRACULOUSLY get out of the inning unharmed. His luck finally ran dry. I'd compare him to Marmol from the Cubs.

This year has been pretty good so far.
Cespedes' home run may be my favorite of the year, AND last year. He SMASHED that ball in the Oakland stadium.

It shouldn't be much of a surprise that the Tigers are a good team. They made the ALCS last year and improved their team this off-season....
...unlike the Red Sox, who sucked last year and got worse this off-season.

Yea that sums it up. Detroit will be a tough playoff team this year. 4-0 start so far.

I'm actually very disappointed in the Red Sox. Not because of their slow start, it happens, and there's no sense in beating up on a team because they're 1-4.... but because of how the majority of the players, coaches, and front office just does not get it. There's about 2 or 3 guys on the team that seem to understand it's not so much the losing that is bothering us, it's their public relations. Henry and Lucchino (the owners) are absolutely out of touch. I didn't care too much that they fired Francona, but they trashed him out of town, denied it, then hired a jackass in Valentine. They bought a damn soccer team for over $400m two years ago, and since that time have really started sucking at making personnel decisions and cheaped out this past year...not to mention they announced, with pride, how they had partnered with Lebron James (arguably the most hated athlete in Boston since Arod). Then Valentine has this jersey shore-like nickname, Bobby V, and is about the biggest douchebag on the planet. He claims to have invented the wrap sandwich, has agreed to do weekly radio shows in NY, is making excuses and telling the media how well he thinks the team is playing so far, and appears more interested in landing a coaching job with the Mets in a few years than anything else.
Then you have the poster child for all this controversy, Josh Beckett, already being aware he was trashed last season for his poor performance, being labeled as a soft pitcher, and being held responsible for the collapse last season... he gets pissed at "the media" for making him look like the bad guy, blames "snitches" in the clubhouse for letting all the information of his off-field antics out, and said he wont ever apologize for anything he did. Coincidentally enough, he began complaining late in spring training about a mysterious "thumb issue" and saw multiple doctors about it, with each of them telling him it's fine... then goes out and gives up 5 homeruns and loses his first start, and he STILL doesn't get why the Boston fans are hating him right now.
Damn, I could rant forever about how this team has fallen so out of touch with the fanbase here. It's amazing, really. This is the first time there has been this much animosity for the team for about 10 years

You're right bosox.. it is really sad to see what happened to the Red sox, the fans used to have an ungodly amount of respect for their team and its easy to tell that it's not there anymore. I'm a Yankee Fan and will be for life but seeing an organisation falling apart like that is sickening.. One of best friends from Bean Town even admits that it's going to be hard to support them this year.

Philly will be fine, but their division is sure going to be a lot tougher this year. But I can see them winning 90-94 games without much trouble... they just wont be winning 100+ games like they have recently.
But yeah, the Red Sox have really dropped the ball this year. It's actually painful to watch how out of touch the entire team is with the fanbase... they just don't get it. It's pretty sad, really. To put this in perspective, since last September, the Sox have gone 11-28 to date, good for a .282 record

I watched their game vs Texas last night... Beckett pitched a good game.. it should have been the 2nd win for him this season, the batters just didn't give him any run support.

First of all, Beckett pitched ok. I'm sorry but a pitcher of his quality, surrendering 3 runs in 7 innings is ok, not great. Especially going up against the two time defending AL Champs, if we only score 2 runs while he's pitching, he deserves the loss. Second of all, Beckett is a chump. I hope we trade him this year, because he is so out of touch with reality and does not realize he is the poster child for all that has been going wrong with the team.

Yankees in Bean town this afternoon! celebrating Bsox 100th anniversary. Im exited with Nova pitching and Granderson and Jeter on a hot streak should be a very easy win for the yanks. Putting all my money on Yankees to make it an even more interesting game to watch

To be honest, I'm much more interested/concerned about the Bruins' playoff run. The Red Sox have been letting the entire fanbase down, not just because they've been playing .200 baseball since last September 1st, but because there is a serious disconnect between the FO, clubhouse, and the fans. Something is up, and I don't think it is going to get better. Unlike last year, when we rebounded to play .700 baseball for a few month stretch, I don't see this team turning it around. This could be a losing season, and I honestly believe that.

Yea bosox I think Boston can afford to not have a good baseball year... bruins are doing good, Boston college won the NCAA hockey champs. And the Celtics are holding it down pretty well in in the NBA... u cant have all the sports lol

Two aces going at it tonight J. verlander for Detroit and Nova for the Yankees. It'll put Nova's winning streak to the test. If he gets some good run support the yankees will win tongiht, I doubt they'll t have too much of a problem getting anything started off Verlander.
Side Note: All my TC money is riding on the Yankees 2nite... If they dont pull it off you all might get to witness another death by Torn Bookies.

No Prince needs to hit a diet! I think it was in the first inning where two balls where hit to him and the pudgy man on first base couldn't move fast enough to get them, resulting in the Yankees getting on the board early in the game
