"People at Arsenal tried to make out that I came here for the money.
I hope they are watching me now, collecting my Premier League winners medal. I believe they have not won a trophy for many years now.
If all that I was interested in was money, the easiest decision would have been to stay at Arsenal, picking up my money every week and walking into the team. There are many people doing this right now at Arsenal.
I made the hard choice to come and fight for my place at a big club, where they never settle for second best and I have proved it correct. I now hope the Arsenal fans can get on with their lives and forget me, they should celebrate their third place achievement and I will focus on winning titles."

samir nasri.

and he's right aswell except for the money bit you've become a small club fighting for top 4 and being happy it's sad really not one of you bealeves you have a chance with the league and i get the feeling your not bothered "just about" beating spurs and your chuffed next year will be 9 and how many without a league?
that will be rvp off to far far far to good for arsenal maybe juventus madrid barca probably city though

p.s arsenal definetly have serial now and in the past divers in there team arsenal fans always try to make themselves out as angels far from stop kidding yourself's... they have changed the game with the diving definetly along with a few others...

A small club?
Pfffff get lost, Wenger had to build the team on the fly- literally.

However unlike last year with the dodgy scramblings right at the end of the transfer period, the board can think through clearly and buy with more clarity in mind and the gelling period comes early during pre-season or during the tours which equals to an extremely good team ready for the premier league.

Otherwise Arsenal would've been competing for 2nd place more strongly and who knows, maybe even 1st but that still some time away so i.e you're an idiot for saying we just care about beating spurs, we don't, they do. Know why? Because we're used to being ahead of them.

And how do Arsenal fans make themself look like angels? No-one in football is an angel -except Lampard (he likes to play clean and I respect that- and I don't see anyone denying it. Every team at some point cheat and every fan base always wants their team to be in the good, it called being a fan.

Comprende?

i don't know if i would call you completely a small club(that really depends on how you look at it) but your definitely becoming one... (one or 2 stages away from Liverpool) there really is no doubt about that sold nasri sold fabregas henry now rvp? (why have they left?) wenger has yet another chance for signings he knew fabregas wanted to leave he knew rvp etc.. so again he has no excuses if he doesn't sign any decent players.. you only signed players at the end because united went out and forced you too.. your target is to get top 4 every season not win the league please do not pretend otherwise not even close to united or city...he needs to spend the money it's there 8 years

you should be better than this it's sad that one of the true clubs of our league is just falling yet arsenal fans seem to be oblivious

look at the arsenal fan above you who thinks you have no serial divers now or in the past...you do try and make yourselves look like angels..

Possibly but with a few more quality additions we should be ready to compete for titles, plus unlike most other teams we have top youth players i.e. le coq, bartley (LB), cambell, Aneke, Wellington, Ozyakup, therefore we're not really 2 steps away from Liverpool.

But you're right about the selling part, a few clarifications though:

Nasri refused to sign a contract so he had to go.
Fabregas wanted to leave to Barca (he added his own money to the transfer as well) plus there's a clause in his contract which means if we wants to leave and we meet the price of 35mil then he can come to us if he agrees.
Henry, what can you say, he was old and wanted to leave to.

Plus can you tell me more about the divers please?
Don't forget the names and the match as well, only within the past 3 years in comparison to other clubs as well.

P.S We know that Wenger doesn't spend so we just back him and trust him to make the right decisions and most of the time he does, it's just that the mentality of the younger players has become that they can win just because their Arsenal (notice how we lose to 'weaker' opposition in comparison to our record against top teams accross the globe, AC Milan anyone?) so in some sense we're crumbling but it's better to hold up together and prevent the downfall and stick together and just believe in the team. You may think we're being oblivious but it's much more than that with better intentions. Look at Blackburn and Steve Keane, no way that's going to help.

Arsne Wenger believes that success in football is about more than merely splashing out on big-money signings.

The Arsenal manager has been criticised for not matching the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea in the pursuit of high-profile players.

But the Frenchman insists that the English game is founded on more important principles than simply opening a cheque book.

I have big respect for the passion about the game in England, Wenger said. But football is more than just splashing out. It's much deeper, much bigger than that.

It's about sweat, thinking, working hard. You have a big tradition of that in England. I believe the pride of this country historically is built on that. It's what makes this football strong and interesting.

If you go to Nottingham Forest they have won the league. If you go to Aston Villa they have won the league. That means historically this country has always been about effort and thoughtful thinking about the game.

I am scared that all these qualities today have less importance in the game.

The Arsenal manager has funds at his disposal - and the Club recently agreed a 150 million sponsorship deal with Emirates - but he insists youth development remains important.

It won't change, it doesn't mean we will not spend money, Wenger said. I am always painted like a guy who refuses to spend money.

But I just think I act like a responsible manager because we went through a period where we had restricted funds and I acted in a responsible way.

We want to be the best. But the best is not only about buying players. We need to continue with what has made our strengths until now.

I don't say that money doesn't play a part in it, but it's not only about that. We have to continue to believe that it's not only about that. What is the game about then? Football has to be even, interesting, unpredictable.

Midfielder Abou Diaby returned from three months out with a thigh problem to play for the club's under-21 side this week and could be involved against City. Defender Andre Santos (stomach muscle) also had a run-out, but is not yet expected to feature for the first team.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini: "We have not won at Arsenal for many years so it is time we changed this situation."

Team news: Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri all miss out with the Argentina international hamstrung, the Ivorian midfielder away at the Africa Cup of Nations along with brother Kolo, the defender, and back-up striker Abdul Razak and former Gunner Nasri completes a three-game suspension. Left-back Aleksandar Kolarov (knee) is back in contention but right-back Maicon (knee) is still out while Micah Richards and Jack Rodwell are long-term casualties.

Man City (from): Hart, Pantilimon, Zabaleta, Kompany, Nastasic, Lescott, Kolarov, Clichy, Rekik, Milner, Barry, Garcia, Sinclair, Silva, Tevez, Dzeko, Balotelli, Lopes, Suarez.

In an interview with Arsenal Magazine, Santi Cazorla claimed that much of the hype around England international Jack Wilshere is justified.

"He has liberated me because, when he is on the pitch, the opposition have to think about him, how to handle him and that gives me even more space," Cazorla said.

"Jack is an incredible player. He gives us something different. He has, for me, characteristics that not many players have. He's a player that's very strong. That surprised me because he's more or less my height and then you see him manage the left very well, he gives you a one-two, he doesn't have fear of facing anything.

"That gives the team that ability to change the rhythm of games. It gives the team something extra. He has everything, a mix. He wins a lot of ball then, in attack, he makes things happen. I'm sure he's going to become much, much better.

"He can do great things. As such, it's normal that England and Arsenal see him as a great hope, because he's very young, he has a brilliant career ahead of him, a lot of potential."
Cazorla, meanwhile, rejected the idea that the Premier League is more physical than Spain.

"The English have a reputation for hard men but I don't think that's the issue that separates the leagues," Cazorla said. "There are aggressive players in all the leagues and I don't think England are the exception in that regard.

"They [stick the boot in] the same amount in Spain but, here, they allow more to go unpunished. In Spain, with minimal contact, they might blow the whistle. In England, in that sense, they're a bit more permissible.

"It isn't as tactical [in England]. Here, the matches are more fun, more open. There are more incidents in the boxes, it's more end to end. And, for that, I think the games are more entertaining for the fans because they know a game can turn. It's notably more open and that means there is more contact. In Spain, you have more time in your own half."

Dennis Bergkamp is set to become the next Arsenal legend to be honoured with a statue outside the Emirates Stadium, reports ESPN.

There has been no official announcement from Arsenal but images of the statue have leaked onto Twitter.

The statue depicts Bergkamp controlling the ball in mid-air against Newcastle in 2003.

"We're pleased that speculation surrounding a future possible statue at Emirates Stadium is generating interest and will obviously communicate details if and when there is confirmation of any new developments," an Arsenal spokesman said.

Bergkamp, who was part of the 'Invincible' team of 2003-4, was voted second behind Henry by Arsenal fans in a poll of the club's all-time greatest players.

He is currently assistant manager at Ajax but one of the leading candidates to replace Liam Brady as Arsenal's academy director next year.
