yea i thought it was a clean hit- first point of contact was shoulder to shoulder, he barely grazed the face protector of the guy... it was just a good hard hit. The NHL sucks when it comes to fining people, very inconsistent
Sekhmet, Matt Cooke did exactly the same thing Torres did, saying he "cleaned up his act" and wasn't penalized much in 2011 I think it was. Yet, we all still know he's dirty and he's still made dirty plays. Those types of guys don't change, and Torres is absolutely no exception. He may have toned it down a little only because he probably got a personal warning from Bettman that he needed to stop or there would be very severe punishments (seeing as he was already suspended 21 straight games once). The hit was a borderline one, but the NHL isn't going to tolerate it from someone like him. As for the fines, that's no surprise. No league will allow you to publicly question the disciplinary decisions the hand down as final, and most leagues have very little tolerance in speaking out publicly against officials. Nothing unique to the NHL, and it's something the Sharks should have known. They ARE inconsistent though, as Cooke has gotten away with a few cheap shots this year, so it would be nice to see them be harsher on all repeat offenders..... but let's remember here: This is Raffi Torres here, a repeat offender going back many years who every team he plays with quickly decides they don't like him anymore, as he's played on 6 teams in 6 years and that says something about him personally and in the locker room.
As for the NYR/BOS series, looking great so far for Boston! Offense is clicking and the defense is mostly playing pretty well, though the Rangers' having a terrible PP helps. But, for whatever reason, Lundqvist has looked pretttttty average against Boston this year, allowing 17 goals in 4 games against BOS, at least 3 goals each game.
Can't say I'm surprised the Bruins are in a position to win this series, but I am very surprised it's heading into Game 4. Bruins have really looked sharp since that Game 7 fiasco comeback, but I'll take it!
