Hello - So recently 2 out of my 3 Usb hubs have stopped working altogether.

I have a Acer Aspire 5742Z series laptop, a couple of years old now I guess.

It has a total of 3 Usb ports, 1 on the Left and 2 on the right.

The one on the left is working, however the two on the right have completely died, usually if I plug something in it would make a little sound and show the device, if the device has a light on, it will light up and so on, Im sure you know what happens when you do this.

However now, these two on the right, do nothing, no bleep, no sound, no light, nothing.

Under my computer, when a device is plugged in, it shows nothing. In the device management panel it says nothing, not to mention, I can't figure out which ones are which to try and un-install and re-install. I don't want to do the wrong one in case I delete the working drive and can't get it back.

Can anyone help me? Its bugging me, at the moment I have a usb adaption device in the left port so I can run my devices all at once, but it puts straign on my laptop and slows things down.

Thanks in advance

Jamie

Nothing you can do unless you want to open your laptop and try replacing the module yourself.

This, or

you need a new motherboard,as the ports are a part of the mobo.

You're better off getting a new laptop.

Is your Warranty still valid? If so, get it fixed for free.

I had a mobo failure on my laptop (usual problem with my model) and i got it fixed.

Did you try sticking peanut butter in the ports?
