Security for PC? As in Personal Computer?
Well, BIOS password, hard disk password and full encryption, UNIX type operating system. Keep the PC in locked room with no windows, copper plated walls, under 24h video/audio surveillance, at least 2 armed guards outside the door. Of course you don't connect that PC to any kind of network, you take out any kind of floppy/CDROM/DVD/whatever, fill the USB/network/modem ports with hotglue (;do this while PC is off);, rip off any kind of internal wireless devices (;bluetooth included);. Oh, and always wear a tinfoil hat while working that PC :;D

Oh, wait, are you talking about virus/malware protection? Or DHS/NSA/CIA/FBI/whatever hacking your computer? Depending on your operating system, hardware and budget, you have a vast number of software. You have to look for the following:;
- good firewall with clear rules
- good antivirus software (;anything but Norton or any integrate protection crap);
- security beefed browser (;no Chrome or IE);
- and last but not least, intelligence (;as in think before clicking anything);.

My security is plain old fashion Common Sense...

No need for anti virus if you simply go to the same couple of sites all the time and only download stuff from trsuted sources and run a virus scan every week.

I prefer not to use anti virus programs since they're just system hogs and I play a lot of games and i have too much lag whenever I have one installed but then again my computer is 6 years old and the CPU has some damage from when it overheated one time due to bad application of thermal paste.

Avast for me. Been running it for years, never let me down, not once.

Specially as from version 5 they have made drastic changes to the UI making it epicly easy and fluid to use.

+1
Unless you're downloading some weird type of porn from a sketchy site(which you shouldn't be doing) you don't need an anti-virus program.

That sounds really gay.

FreeBSD doesn't need security. I'll compile my own open-source non proprietary source code, thanks.

ESET's NOD32/64

I've placed my faith in eset for years and years now, I got on to it when it picked up and removed infections other software didnt. Since using it then and on other's computers I never find any new infections that arent blocked immediately while browsing...

of course updating your OS and other software is important in making sure vulnerabilities are minimized in your system...

I make to u to sig like to this fro $10000.

Say no to legal scamming.

Say yes to multis!
