it doesnt interfere with none of the daily activities

you can turn it to silent mode, where it wont make a single sound
its great for low end and high end rigs

It's also a massive resource hog.
Been using ESET for a while. Don't think it's let me down...

Does have a habit of going f**king mental if you don't have internet connection, though. Starts eating up CPU because it can't understand that now is not the time to update.

dont know why you think that avast is resource hog

it never uses more then 50mb of RAM here
and ive been keeping an eye on CPU usage too, its never more then 1%, only when you tell avast to start a full time check

Anti virus is for noobs and porn addicts who go to almost any site on the web.

I haven't used an anti virus in 3 years and haven't had any viruses or malware.

Or at least, you haven't had any you know of...

Just browsing the web can land you with viruses. I've had a few from Google Image results, and the odd time when a trusted website has been hacked and ends up hosting malicious scripts.

Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials.
Avast is updating more often but both do their job for the average user (clean torrents, known porn sites, not too much warez).

I've used McAfee - got a virus
I've used Norton - got multiple viruses and trojans (it also hogs system resources like a fat kid hogs cake)

I've been using Vipre (yes, that's how you spell it) for years and haven't had any issues (in fact, I recently bought a 3 year license because it's preformed so well).

I've been using Avast for 9 years and swear by it. I also use Malwarebytes for scans.

Auslogics has some free software that cleans up and speeds up your computer. I use:

duplicate file finder

registry repair

defragger...better than microsoft's.

the only real thing you ever need is a safe search function for scanning websites and blocking certain images that has malicious content.

From my experience you could have all the antivirus programs installed on your computer and they still won't stop half the serious malware out there. One time my brother without me knowing was browsing some section of 4chan and a crazy malware got on my computer that was bad enough to where he couldn't get rid of it but he went into safe mode and edited its files to cripple it from working which allowed him to get rid of it.

I don't browse the internet without a script blocker. You have no idea have many different things try to load on regular websites.

Avast.

Avoid Avira,AVG and NOD32 at all costs. Not only that they scan ridiculously slow, their artificial intelligence is on a potato-level. Always had issues deleting threats with them.

Avast is the best all-rounder, however, if i were able to get the best security possible, i would go with Kaspersky, McAfee and Symantec. Their paid versions are insanely good!
