WTF? It's showing that I live in South-East England.
I live in Wales.
You just used a server in London for your bandwidth test. If you can find any servers in or near wales, try to test from them, as the closer ones may give better results (and likely better ping time).
Just a heads up for people. To get your max download speed, just divide your speedtest.net results by 8. Apparently the results are displayed in bits, and people are accustomed to seeing their download speed in bytes...
My max download speed is 1 megabyte per second

One of the best reasons to live on campus: for the internet.
-Sinista- I notice your speeds are faster than 66% of india? That's scary. Do they pay people to run the packets back and forth on frashdrives or something?
About the lithuania guy, Don't Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania have better internet than the US?
One of these days, I'll test it at night to see how much faster it goes.

One of the best reasons to not live off-campus: crummy internet. This is what I get now:
Still much better than I expected, considering what I pay. Hmm, I'm close enough to campus that it might be profitable to construct a cantenna. I do have a spare router to play with.

Do they use the 1000 or 1024 megabytes/mebibytes standard? your answers may be off by another 10% from that.

No idea. They offer 8Mbps internet speed and I noticed that my max download speed is 1 megabyte per second.
Even the internet I might be stealing for free here is pretty fast. Go to an internet cafe, or build a cantenna, 'cause those speeds are just depressing.
