I've recently been watching a lot of foreign films from Bollywood to Spanish films and a few things inbetween. (I'm quite new to them, being closed minded as I was growing up and not being willing to read while watching films )
Do you like foreign films?
I like the different styles in them. I thought I'd list a few that I've enjoyed in the hope that someone (or some people) will list a few that they have enjoyed. Then, maybe we can talk about them after I have watched them.
Ghajini- Bollywood version of momento, complete with singing and dancing. A bit long but quite good- it has a bit of everything.
The piano in a factory- Film about some steel workers in China who struggle to find work and a man's struggle to keep custardy of his daughter. Is quite beautiful.
I saw the devil- Korean bloody film with Choi Min-sik (oldboy actor). Is really good.
The Last Circus- Spanish film about clowns in Franco's era (then later). Is a head f**k, funny and twisted.
These are the ones I've watched in the last few weeks.
I have seen lots of anime and some more famous foreign films like Oldboy and Pan's Labyrinth and the German one about the twins with the gloves that kill people (all of which are also awesome). What would you recommend? I like weird (scary, bloody or thinky) films with a touch of comedy.

considering i'm portuguese, all the movies i watch are foreign
but back to what you mean ...
I saw the devil is top notch !!
some weird/scary/bloody/thinky asian films that come to mind, for no other reason other than my addiction to asian cinema:
Nightmare detective (there are 2 of these ... i liked the 1st one more but they're both good)
Himizu
Love Exposure
Cold Fish
Suicide club
Premonition
Driving with my wife's lover
Pieta
3-Iron
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring
Design of Death
Re-cycle
The eye
3 Extremes (shorts stories by different directors)
i'm a fan of J-Gore ... mainly because i find them hilarious, over the top and excessively bloody ... but it's an "acquired taste" so i'll post these separate from the rest
Dead Sushi
Helldriver
Tokyo Gore police
Deadball
Mutant Girls Squad

Thanks buddy, I will check them out. I'm not sure about J-Gore, I'll give it a look but maybe it will be too much. Is it much worse than Korean Gore?
How is the cinema in Portugal? I've seen a few Brazilian films about gangs and such, I quite like them too.

J-Gore usually fits into the "its so bad its good" category .... low budgets, purposely ridiculous scripts and exaggerated amounts of fake blood (kind'a like the Troma movies or Peter Jackson's early movies Braindead and Bad Taste)
Portuguese feature length cinema is rare, for the most part, not to my liking ... commercial cinema is soap-operish and arthouse cinema is still much too similar to french cinema of the 50's and 60's (i.e. boring, unbearable and often pointless just for the sake of being pointless) and if these formats aren't well funded to begin with then anything outside them is nearly impossible to produce ...
but no rule is without exception so once in a while something different pops up ... subs are hard to come by though but you might try looking for:
"Sorte Nula" (title translates as "Luck: None" but was released internationally as "The Trunk")
"Balas e Bolinhos" (Title Translates as "Bullets and Cookies" it's a crime comedy Trilogy , the 1st one is amateurish and was filmed with no budget on weekends among friends, but the 2nd and 3rd are better funded and are on a whole different level)

jsnows named some great jgore movies. i especially like the director takeshi miike who directed dumplings, which is the first film in 3 extremes. if you are really into blood and gore the french have made some decent gory horrer lately. cavalire is not that gory, and if you have a strong stomach check out martyrs, a l'inteiur and dans ma peu. there are many others. they are all probably spelled wrong my french is not what it used to be lol. if anyone wants to talk gory horror movies hit me up!

All time horror movie:
Ringu(japanese) - The Ring (Hollywood)
Damn, The Ring's ghost is too hot in RL these days.
Evil-Dead I (Hollywood)- Vastu Shashtra (Bollywood)
I'll suggest: Never ever try Bollywood movies after 2K.
All 60's - 90's movies are just awesome.
Each and every movies are just Outstandingly Heart Touching.

i enjoyed those as well ...
on a side note ... A sequel to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is said to be in the works and should go into production this year ... apparently it will be based on the same source material (Crane Iron Pentalogy ... Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was based on the 4th book and the sequel will be based on the 5th, Iron Knight Silver Vase)

i can't agree ... Asoka (2001) and Jodha Akbar (2008) are both very good if you're into the epic/historical/drama genre

Hi, i'm here for an attempted hijacking.
Looking for a Bollywood film that i saw a while ago and never caught the name (definitely older than 6 years).
It's about a group of Indian friends with one friend who's a muslim. His best friend has a dad who hates muslims or something like that.
Anyway, it starts off in the typical Indian way with 2 hours of a sort of normal introduction, and then their best friend goes off to join the Indian Air Force and his plane crashes. The friends look into it and find out it's something to do with corrupt politicians.
Everything goes batshit crazy and they end up killing the corrupt politicians and taking over a radio station to broadcast...uh...a message or something.
Indian SWAT arrives, kills them all, and then just a few of the girls are left alive.
Anyone heard of it?
