I am curious as to whether players with donator status will be given the time back that Torn has been offline? Torn has been screwed for much of the past 24 hours, and quite often during the past week. So I am curious as to the likelihood of Torn staff giving players with Donator status the equivalent donation time back? Reason for asking is that many players purchase Donator Packs with real money, the Donator House in the City says you can buy Donator Packs, and it is stated that each Donator Pack will give a player 31 days status. If the game is offline, regardless of the reason it is offline, it means that the players who bought these packs lose out on what was promised to them in writing in the Donator House. So my question is, will staff honor the written agreement that 31 days staus will be given to a player on use of a Donator Pack, or will players be expected to lose out? If there is any likelihood of this happening, how would we as players and donators go about getting this lost time back?

thanks for any replies that might help in answering this question

In no point does it says 31 days worth of active time on torn city it says 31 days donator status so in no way do they have to give anything back if torn goes down for a day

However yes I agree it would be good if they do something if it does go down for a day but I don't think they are able to give out a days worth of donator status

Because the crons never ran no donation time was taken. If you actually looked at your donation time remaining you would have noticed that. Therefore they are are not going to give you what was not taken.

I agree that it does not say active time, though I disagree that staff wouldn't be able to return the lost status time to players... they are able to return lost money/items and such, so status wouldn't really be any different

Yes but when you purchase donator status it comes with 31 days worth of donator status so in order for them to return 1 days worth of do ator status they would have to create a completely new form of donator pack that gives out 1 days worth

And it is much easier for them to return lost money or items than 1 days worth of donator status for well the reason I stated above

But it would be interesting hearing a staff members opinion on this

When the whole game has gone down, very rarely has it happened they've credited everyone with 3 days donator status as an apology.

18/05/13 - Unscheduled Downtime
The site went down at around 3am, and was brought back up when were made aware of it at 9:15am. New hardware is being installed this week, including two brand new load balancers. This is to attempt to solve connection issues and slowness many people have seen over the past couple of months. We're also moving our network connection from 1Gbps to 10Gbps which will further improve things and prevent smaller DDoS attacks. We'll have an announcement for you later. We apologise if the downtime affected you, I believe a donator day was not removed from users accounts today.]

What are you smoking man? All they do is credit every player with Donator status 1 extra day. There is no need to make a Donator pack that offers 1 day

"I don't think they are able to give out 1 days worth of donator status" so tried to work out a way in which they would be able to so before you add you smart answer read back on the comments properly

Before you answer at all, try and know something about the game?

Legally the site could be down for 30+ days and there is not one thing you can do about it. It was a donation to the site nothing more/less. I had a game owner once say his servers went down and need to replace it before he could get it back up. We the loyal players got together and paid for more than what was needed to get him the best servers he wanted. He took the money and left state. The donation was just that, nothing could be done. He scammed all his loyal players and never got the game back up. If you think I am lying I have 5-6 players I brought here from that game. So before you plop your money down into a internet game, read the fine print on donations.

unfortunately Styx, you are wrong, on all counts...

2/3 of all payment options state "Buy", not "Donate"... this puts the law very much in favor of what passing money to the game is actually as a purchase, not a donation.

Torn is a registered business in Scotland, UK, and that means it comes under Scottish law, not any other... but the law is beside the point and is not what I am asking about...

if I was a butcher and sold someone some meat that didn't agree with their stomach, trying to be a decent money maker, I would do what I could to make my customer satisfied... I wouldn't expect to be sued, and I wouldn't hide that they got bad off something I might have gave them... this is similar... I, as are many others, am a paying customer... I don't want to walk away feeling short changed... if I did walk away feeling like that, I would likely not buy from there again...

I am asking about the fact that some people "buy" (as stated in the donator house) Donator packs, and they all expect to receive what they bought. I am asking if it is possible that the missing time that they bought is returned to them.

What happened to you Styx isn't right... it's just what they convinced you that they could get away with... you got sucked in and believed a lie... that's all...

you're not correct on this... when you use a donator pack, there is a time stamp associated with it... Torn time did not continue from when it went offline... it resumed in-line with the currnt UK time... so there is a "lost" time period.

priceless: when someone tries to correct you but they are wrong.

without getting in a tit-for-tat thing, as this isn't what this question is about... my education time went down as it is time stamped... donation status runs a similar way... just because Ched owns the game, he doesn't know everything about how it is coded, and he has stated many things in the past that haven't always been accurate (no offence Ched )... Crons and time stamps are entirely different from each other... they act in different ways... for Ched to make such a claim, they already added 1 whole day to donators, or they didn't... they would have had to specially (and speedily) code to auto add game off-line time to donator status... this has never happened in the past... do you seriously "believe" (believe quoted in "" as this was used in the quote and the word is commonly used to derail people from the facts ) that it happened this time? I know that if I use a DP at 12:00 midday, and there is any downtime, my DP will expire at 12:00 midday 31 days later... donator status does not account for downtime... If they had such coding, how come it isn't used in other aspects of the game? just a thought...
