There are many words from each dialect throughout the site. 'Armour' (American: armor) and 'check' (British: cheque) to name but two.

Do you think there should be a standard chosen?

If so, which one?

I'm just interested to see what people think...

Edit: British= Australian, New Zealand-ish(?) and maybe Canadian(??) (possibly more- real English was a better name for it)

I don't mind which one they choose, but the mixing of both annoys me a little.

It doesn't matter, it's correct from whichever area you live being the term you use. We're all worldwide players. You'll have to deal with people's different dialects and spellings. If it bothers someone so much to need to complain about it in any way shape or form, I think they should stop playing the game and go relieve some stress.

Different admins from different parts of the world with differing, but still correct, spellings of certain words working on different areas or items. Nothing else to it.

Weird because in the 5 years at secondary school I never once read/was told/was corrected to spell program as programme -.- I even had to google it to be 100% if it was meant to mean program lol, criticised I've always spelt with a s not a z but several words Americans use Z for -.-

If I was reading a book written by two authors (one English, one American) I would get annoyed if it kept switching between spellings, unless it was an obvious feature of the book I suppose. I think it just comes across as a bit unprofessional since there is no one standard chosen.

Perhaps it's only because I work with the English language- but, things like this do make me twitch a little.

"It's correct from whichever area you live bla bla bla" couldn't be more false. It's incorrect no matter where you are from.

I see lots of people don't really care though, so no worries!

No. In British English 'program' is only ever used in the context of computing. In every other instance 'programme' is used.

It's a bit like real life... as an Englishman, I come accross an American tourist who speaks and writes differently. Why should Torn be different from that? I just think of it as different ppl speaking (writing in Torns case) in the way that they have learnt the "English" language.

Consistency should be used. However, let me point out that nearly all countries of the world uses American English when speaking English. Not your funky British English.

It's fine for the players to speak differently. In real life, a city will choose one or the other though, you won't see mixed signs in the street.

American English is the more standard option, I voted American.

Not bothered about American English. We gave them the language. They think they discovered it...

It's the BS drivel that it's used for or elligible 12 year 'text speak' some use on here that I find irritating.

"wat do noe, im onle a nooob! lol do u no eny1 who haz da nu jezzie j seedeeee?"

*cough* Latin *cough*

Latin came from Greek (maybe), Greek came from Phoenician.

Edit: Alphabet are a bit irrelevant.
