He will be earning more than the minimum wage. He is paying a lot of coders though and coders earn good money

Remember how many donators and subscribers he has. Add all the subscribers and donators together. Then multiply that by about 4.50 (payment system fees) that is roughly his company's monthly revenue (for those player's who don't buy in advance donator packs) without taxes. To get his approximate yearly multiple that figure by 12; some people won't renew a donator pack of subscription but for the most part it should be close enough to estimate his company's income.
Furthermore I'd speculate based on the number of server's he has I'd wager he has at least 1,000 (without knowing specifics of what all his plan has of course-- I know the site likely uses more than 1 TB of bandwidth a month due to sheer volume of hits plus forum signs/ banners/ the image ads) under the assumption this is still hosted by Go Daddy, but I can't say for sure if he changed hosts; I do believe he hasn't as I've been inactive a few days.
Also coders make starting out 50,000-100,000 a year depending on how good the game is. This matters because most of staff are volunteers; coder's should be paid staff as not everyone knows the computer language the game is written in. Admins also are likely paid but I can't confirm

And it's also those(atleast 1 ) who bulk buy dp 50 (-100) at a time and sell on the market..
I'm only 253 days and already spent a 4 digit amount on dp... And most likely I'm not the only one..

If a million or two over 10 years is enough, yes.

Some more info from the Winter Newsletter:
Q. How much do you pay the Torn staff?
A. We currently have over 50 voluntary staff and I can honestly say I'd love to pay them if I could. Unfortunately this would cost us around ?1m per year, and that's just on minimum wage. I believe most of the staff actually have full time jobs already which earn far more than we could ever pay them anyway. So thankfully, they do help keep Torn running for free, which I am hugely grateful for.
Q. I heard you were a millionaire, is that true?
A. The newspapers like to exaggerate. We as a company have brought in (and spent), in excess of a million pounds, and the website itself is probably worth far more. However, I personally haven't got, and never have had anywhere close to that in my bank account. The site is certainly not a 'Cash cow', it's very expensive to run, and keep updated. Even to this date, over 8 years, the total money i've withdrawn for me personally isn't anywhere close to a million pounds. Almost all of it is reinvested in to servers, services, advertising and developers. I pay myself a pretty standard wage. |
