I have a very stable 30NB and heard that one of the best ways to get crime exp is through busting. Are there any external factors that help with bust success? I fail most busts once the player is level 15 or higher or anyone that's in for more than 1hr 30mins. I heard dexterity helps and mine is very low as its the only stat I don't train. Could this be the reason I fail a large number of busts?
Also what should I look for when busting? Some players say jail time doesn't matter and its just level so if that's true how do level holders fit into this equation? Do I need to have more crime exp than the person I bust? Does a failed bust cause a significant loss of crime exp? Are there any enhancers or education courses that help bust success?

The proven rule is: If you have not completed the Law Bachelors or do not work in a 5 * law firm, then do not attempt to bust out more than 3 people in a 15 minute interval
The following education will assist you:
LAW2900: Gain the ability to buy yourself out of jail. This is so that you can buy yourself out if you get caught busting someone, failing which, you can alway buy a lawyer business card which is a multiple use item (costs about $1mil) which you can use from your
item list any time you're in jail
The cost of buying is normally $25 per minute x level, unless you've done the eduction to reduce costs of bailing / buying someone out
LAW2920: Gain a 5% bonus to your skill in busting
LAW2970: Gain a 10% bonus to your skill in busting
LAW3102: Gain two bonuses: Busting is 50% easier and buying out is 50% cheaper
If you've completed the above education and work in a 5 * law firm, you should be able to bust more people in a row in 15 minutes
It has been said that you need 4k dexterity per hour that the person is in jail for. So if someone is in jail for 10 hours you would need 40k dexterity to be able to bust them out
It is rumoured that busting people around your level is easier than busting other people. I have successfully busted many lvl 40's, 50's and 60's without a problem. Also a few 70's and one level 84
It is rumoured that the higher your nerve bar, the easier it is to bust people. Many people have bust thousands of people on 10 nerve, so not sure how true that is. I think it has more to do with total crimes committed, but have no proof that this play a role
Merits on crime success and education to improve crime success and enormity apparently have no impact on busting ability.

The law eduction can help:
- LAW2920 : Criminal Law: +5% busting skill
- LAW2970 : Social and Economic Law: +10% busting skill
- LAW3102 : Bachelor of Law: 50% easier busting
Dexterity helps indeed, I'll try to find the data later.
Easiest to bust should be around your own level and with the lowest amount of jail time.
(I don't think anyone really knows about level holders)
There's still a lot of mystery around busting.
It's believed to help passively
I.E. doing busts only won't increase a 30 to a 35 nnb,
but so far there hasn't been much teams who did a successful PA (hardest OC of the factions) with less than 20k total busts.
You also don't lose any crime exp when failing or getting caught busting.
*Note: All this is just a theory at the moment, finding exact proof is extremely difficult

Thanks for the input, seems like I should start those courses and train my dexterity a bit, at least to 50k. Also seeing that I can't chain bust right now what should my intervals between busts be?

max 3 in 15 min intervals unless you've got one the education listed above or are in a 5 * law firm - that appears to work fine for me. I have done 2 educations to improve busting success so have +15% - these seem to help a bit as well

in my experience, i can only bust a max of under four hours and i only have about 30k dexterity (i don't train it either). anything more and i almost always seem to fail.
i have all of the law educations, but i still don't try more than three in a fifteen minute period, i seem to fail regardless more often than not.
the idea is that people close to your level are easiest, but in my experience i can bust a level 1 much easier than a level 60, despite a level 60 being much closer to my own. there's also a rumor that it is based on rank more than level, but the two are fairly closely related seeing as level contributes to rank.
failing a bust doesn't lose you experience as best as anyone can tell, but it might just be such a small number that no one really ever seems to notice.
and the idea is that busting doesn't directly give crime experience, but might act as a multiplier when committing actual crimes. that or it just temporarily increases your success rate, which makes it seem like it increases your experience. there was an experiment to see if it directly gave crime experience, but the experiment was shown to not be conclusive since they still committed a couple organized crimes. i believe it was boogie who was doing busts and HE came to the conclusion that it doesn't affect experience, more so success/acts as a multiplier.
i tried to skim through the thread before posting. hopefully i helped and didn't just repeat stuff that's already been said.

I'm in a 5 star law firm and my 4th bust in 15 minutes always gets me jailed
I've no pertinent educations.

(this is just a early guess from my point of view)
Been doing some busts today and decided to try the highest lvl hoping to gain as much exp as possible. With expectation of going to jail myself
But to my surprise I've been sucsessfully busting lvl 60-70 (with jail times up to 10 hrs) several times today, without any fails (exept when I've tried a low lvl prisoner as the 4th in a row)..
So.. My 4,966 offences compared to your 22,262 tell me that comitted crimes don't have much(if anything) to do with it.
Neither does the busting stats, where I have:
People busted: 113
Failed busts: 89
compared to your
People busted: 2,035
Failed busts: 699
I also have a 30 natural nerve bar.
Don't have any of the education.
My halfway theory:
(numbers are not accurate)
To me it seems that my 300K dex affects more than just the jail time..
(maybe my 4 upgrades on crime exp matters some after all??)
If I need 40K of my dex for a 10hr jail time, then my guess is that the remaining 260K decide the max lvl.
So if each lvl require 4K(*) dex then my remaining dex will let me bust up to lvl 65 with 10 hrs
(I think the recent 10hr bust was a lvl 63)
But with feks only 2hrs jail time I'd be able to bust up to lvl 73
300-(2x4)
4
=73
With these numbers the highest I'm able to bust would be lvl 74(*) with 1hr jail time..
(*) must actually be less than 4K per lvl, since my record for high lvl bust is 82
So... anyone else been looking into something like this, and maybe have some facts to either back or kill my theory?

It's weird to see you posting about busting without fails, when you have such a disproportionately large amount of fails, 44% instead of the normal 25%.
My success % falls significantly when I go more than 10 higher than my level and I have 100m dexterity, so I don't agree with your theory

The experiment was NOT shown to be 'inconclusive' due to us doing OC's - we were in the SAME OC's together, so that is a null factor when considering the experiment that we did (as we all gained the same from being in the exact same OC's during the entire test).

I'm not saying it doesn't, however, bogie has busted 1,475 people, so even if he did test it (which he never said he did), his sample size is rather small, wouldn't you agree? This claim about it giving a success multiplier was just his personal hypothesis and nothing more.

most of my fails was before I knew that I shouldn't do more than 3 at a time..
(did fail a couple shortly after I posted tho )
and btw.. that theory is just something I cooked up in no time from the result of 20-30 busts.. and put it there mainly to hear other opinions, and if it's worth/nessesary to take a closer look into.

I was recently proven wrong about it not giving experience, but I still stand by my hypothesis of being a success multiplier too, as Link said though, this part is just my personal viewpoint, I have no proper evidence to support this.

any thoughs on why I'm able to bust people with much higher lvl than me with long jail times?
since my last post I've busted another 25 people with 5hrs (2 stk with less) or more jail time, and lvl 45+(3 stk with lower).. (average around 55-60)
one of my last was a lvl 72 with 12 hrs jail time.
