Basically, I've been playing with photoshop over some time now as I often use it for bits'n'bobs in university etc.

I've always liked the idea of Sig making on torn and wanted to get into it so I started looking into a few tutorials. I used a member of my faction to create the sig for so that I could follow their requirements. This is what I came out with for their request of a LoL champion 'Sivir'

In this image I put a grey-scale gradient map over the original colored image and then I put another map over that which gave it the purple coloured effect.

This next image, I removed the grey-scale gradient mapping, leaving the purple one for a slight tint.

And this last image is the same as the previous one but with a sharpened filter applied.

Basically, I want to know if this is the standard you would expect a sig to be at for it to sell.

I'd also like to know what people would suggest could be used as additional features to sigs like this, maybe types of brushes etc.

Any help would be nice for a Newbie like me!

Thank's guys -
Onyxia.

Few things I'd suggest...

For the image:

+ If you're abiding by the rule of thirds, then that render should be moved to the left a bit more
+ Keep the text central or near the focal
+ Blur a tad on the sides to keep the viewers eyes trained on the focal
+ Try not to saturate the entire tag with one color... keeping fleshy tones for people would be ideal

For personal reference:

+ Read a few tutorials on lighting

Hope to see you posting more often. Cheers!

I didn't find a good youtube video in my quick search but you may be able to find one on your own... I did find a picture-form signature tutorial that I think you may get a few tips from...

Never sharpen text. Do all edits and such then add your text. This is the case for all beginner tags.
