Hey!
A problem I'm having with my own sig making is that I struggle to "make an background."
What do you guys do?
Make one with brushes? Use a texture? A stock?
And how do you get C4D's to fit in with your work?
Appreciate any advice,
Regards:

Most of the time I make my background solely with c4ds but its all depends on the style of tag you are making. c4ds will not always work.
To get them to fit in is just a matter of testing out different ones until you find one that works.

Brushes are pretty much a thing of the past. It's extremely rare to see them used around here.
The best advice I can give in terms of backgrounds is to use a stock that is relevant to your render. For example, if you were using a Halo render, a space stock would be suitable. If you were using a render of a rapper, an urban styled background would be suitable.
As for your C4D question, that's just down to experimentation. To my knowledge there's no science behind C4D choice/placement. Just go with what looks good.

Thanks for the advice guys
When I look at others sigs eg. your forum sig tainted, you got the c4d's to work so nicely!
I don't know how to do all those "lit up" parts.

four made my forum tag haha
The bits where it's lit up is most likely a light blue soft brush set to either screen or linear dodge!

I like to start of with a blank canvas, and i never used render's due to the fact that i'd rather find a stock with a bg already. On the other hand render's are very useful to some rather than others.
