Most of the time I'm not even in there long enough to bust myself out!

self busting only wastes your nerve, you gain nothing from it.

[...]

By Salesman [1712762]
Why is this happening and should it be fixed?

Because it was shown (with evidence) recently that busting gives crime experience, whereas for years and years before, it was said that it didn't. Now people are using it to supplement their CE so they can do harder crimes, or make up from failing the harder crimes. Also busts are integral to doing the hardest Organized Crime in the game (Political Assassination).

I personally used the self-bust option, because sometimes there are great targets and it's worth the risk, instead of waiting to be busted only to find an empty jail afterwards. It paid off quite a few times for me, and I have the law course done, so it costs me 1/3 of my nerve.

I reached 40 nerve when I was only 202 days old thanks to busting, so yes it pays off. My new aim is to enter HOF for busts, and while jail is almost always empty, I get more busts in 6 hours than I got Easter eggs in the whole month. So it's just a matter of hard work and having energy to spare.

For the rest, listen to Link, she knows what she's talking about!

I do agree that sometimes it is very handy to get out quick if nobody busts you, but I don't self-bust, the Lawyer Business Card is better.

And yes I get more busts in 37 minutes than I get easter eggs in a month.

If you read the full initial post you'd see I wasn't 'whinging' but rather wanting to discuss the situation.

I think you're just having a hard time IRL. It will pass, give it time.

Putting my name on someone else's statements and then attacking me for what they said doesn't let you win any points, sweetie.

To each his own way. Lawyer Business Cards cost 490k to buy in bazaars, and an extra amount equivalent to self bailing. For now, I prefer to sacrifice a potential 90k crime income than shelling hard cash. I'm almost done with Law courses, so a self-bail may end up costing me only 80-85k, which is more reasonable.

By Salesman [1712762]
So what I'm trying to get at is, the busting merits are really becoming hard to come by.

No they're not. You just have to have patience and click jail more often. Also it depends on the time of day as to whether there's people sitting in the jail or whether you have to click jail a few times to get someone.

By Salesman [1712762]
I have a 25 natural nerve bar without ONE bust.

And? A baby gets free food without ever cooking a meal. What's your point?

By Salesman [1712762]
I'm sure I am not the only new player experiencing this problem.

Who cares.

By Salesman [1712762]

There's nothing that needs "fixing" - it's just become more competetive. Have patience, click "jail" link more often and you will find people to bust.

My favorite part about Torn is how the players cannot discuss a simple thing without causing childish arguments.
Oh wait. No its not.

On an unrelated note. I pop in a few times while I am on, and the jail is more busy during certain parts of the day, and at those times there seems to be a higher quantity of high level players, who would be difficult to bust.

I'm a fairly old re-starter, though being a new player I'd need the busting experiences, but I don't think this is such a big deal. Actually I find the occasional bust exhilarating. It's fun and competitive. Nothing needs to be fixed. You can't have all the facilities, you have to work hard for it.

Only one question though. I remember siting in the jail, even mailing online -BC- members to bust me out. It would be hours before I got busted. So what actually provoked this bust frenzy?

Well I decided to see if busting was really dieing out. I had around 15 bust this morning from way before. So far today I have busted 30 people... I really dont think its dying out. Its a bit harder to find bust targets but they are there and waiting for the busting. My only issue is that is was a lot of wasted energy that could of been put towards my stats right now lol

I can't remember EVER having to refresh the page 20 times much less 50 for just one bust. Maybe three, but it usually only takes 5-10 refreshes for one bust.

^ There's nothing 'asshole' about my original reply to the OP. However this is like the 5th thread complaining about 'no busts' I've read recently.

When really this whole thing boils down to laziness on the part of the complainers, and them then wanting to screw over other people (who are putting in the effort) just so they can gain with least effort.

You play your game, I'll play mine.

Laziness is using a script to bust 10 people at the same time.

For non scripters it goes like this:
Wow, 10 people in jail.
(bust)
That person is already out of jail.
(back)
There is nobody in jail at this time.

You forgot the "Are you sure you want to bust [username] out of jail?" page and the possible 408 error charmer. Making getting a few bust in a row an achievement.

But, you're forgetting, Peteo, that we should just be using a script too. It's not an unfair advantage at all, everyone should have scripts. It's fair.

Sorry, *FAIR*.

I've gotten pissed off many a time from the jails being empty when I want to bust or that is 'already out of jail', I don't have time to stalk the jail so I thought I'd pursue other merits like ones for reviving instead. Seems all i've done is gone from 'xx is already out of jail' to 'xx doesn't want to be revived'. f**k you all!

I'm hopeful of one day getting that 1000 bust merit

Edit:
You busted Abstruso out of jail.

Fyi..... the time spent in jail counter only started recently, within the last few months. So all the times you were in jail before then, did not count towards your hours/minutes in jail.

But yes, it's rare these days to spend more than 1-2 minutes in jail. All good I think.

There is no script that busts 10 people out at the same time..at least not one that I've heard of. I and many many others do use a 1-click bust script. This is how it goes:

Wow, 10 people in jail.
(click bust}
{page returns result at top and freezes until it reloads}
{there is nobody in jail at this time}

So while I appreciate your dramatic strawman, if you want to have an actual point, you might want to get your facts straight.

Every time I click on the Jail to see if I could try my hand at a quick bust the jail is almost always empty and when it isn't, its got some high level committing an atrocious crime that trying to bust out is hopeless because you'll just land yourself in there for trying.

I can say this with confidence, I have not been in Jail for more than 15 seconds. I get busted or bailed within seconds. Most of the time I'm not even in there long enough to bust myself out!

So what I'm trying to get at is, the busting merits are really becoming hard to come by. I've read a lot of those crime guides on achieving high nerve bar quickly and all of them incorporate busting and how much you should have done. I have a 25 natural nerve bar without ONE bust.

I'm sure I am not the only new player experiencing this problem.

Why is this happening and should it be fixed?

I looks like certain people feel it's okay use scripts to aid them in their Pursuit to get the busting merits or to the busting HOF, I feel this is one of the reasons the jail is empty! For many to gain the CE is one of the many other reasons. Using scripts to cheat or manipulate a game are true signs of character and a display you need some sort of handicap to compete with people who dont use scripts. Whats good for one should be good for all. The game developer should work these busting scripts into the game and make it available for all people to use.

By adding the captcha indicates to me the the admins recognize the script use and don't condone it's use.
As for clicking on the captcha correctly and getting to the person you were about to bust, Who is already out of jail is amusing to me and must be down right frustrating to others.

Collecting your evidence and Ranting on about other people who are only sharing their opinion makes you look like a wanna be know it all, Focusing on other peoples problems is only a way to avoid your own problems. it's only a game, get over it!
