I started this thread, thank you for all of your responses. I appreciate your input.

Now, let me answer my own question in more detail:

Yes, yes, yes, I do that, and judging from your responses it seems like I do have a problem. But, I suspect that some of you are not telling the truth.

Hello: My name is: Turmoil and I am a TC addict.

When I am working on an important merit I will set my alarm to wake me up at any time, day or night, at any interval necessary, to accomplish that merit in an efficient, economical, and safe manner.

When I am traveling to a TC destination I will set my iPhone timer, or clock radio, to approximately 1 minute before the event so that I will not waste any time.

When I am stacking Xanax, and then including Vicodin, I make sure that I remind myself with my alarm, that an event is happening. This includes going to rehab, just to be careful, or taking another drug on time.

Sometimes I wake up two or three times each night just to refresh my Torn City position, that being draining my bars, turning my travel destinations around, progressing my most current merit, or keeping current with my drug problem.

When on Real Life road trips I set even timers on my iPhone to keep my TC status current. I have pulled over to the side of the road, in the middle of the California desert, on the way to Las Vegas, just to update my TC situation. I wake up in the middle of the night in the Mandarin Bay Hotel, in Vegas with my GF, to update my TC position.

Are there any 12 step programs out there to help me?

back in 2006, I used to wake up several times a night for TC... but now that I'm not in school anymore and working, not a chance... sleep is much too important now than getting crimes or training done

I used to wake up in the middle of the night to not waste any e, did that for the first 2 years. Now I work nights so I take 2 4 hour naps a day and don't waste a lot of energy. Some days I do sleep for almost 8 hours but it is rare. I don't do my naps for torn but it works well for torn. I hate it when I fly to rehab and forget but for the most part I don't forget so I don't set any timers.

I have to say this is one of the saddest things I've read in a while. I can't believe the emphasis some people put on this game. Though I'm logged in 24/7 (phone) I only ever log on to train or do crimes when it crosses my mind and when im not busy.

I mean I have this guy trying to keep me in hospital for the rest of my TC life and I swear he logs in at ungodly times to keep maximum bounties on me. It is quite sad. Still he's doing a shit job of it as the bounties have yet to disrupt anything I really want to do on the game.

Dear "Salesman": Thank you for responding to my post, I appreciate it and I wish you well. But, I do not think that you are being honest. ("Though I'm logged in 24/7 (phone) I only ever log on to train or do crimes when it crosses my mind and when im not busy.")

BTW: someone please help this poor SOB.

If you have to set up an alarm just to play torn, you are sad. Really Sad and you need to re-evaluate your life.

The closest i would come to playing torn asap would be to wake up, go eat breakfast and play torn at the same time (I wouldn't wake up for the sake of playing torn).

These days I just play torn, when im bothered, i don't really care about the "wasted" energy. Life is far more important than a game.

Having two sleeps during a night used to be common www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-16964783. If I can get to bed early enough I will very occasionally set a second alarm to get up in the night where I may or may not play some Torn

I hate my life anyway and often I wish I was dead. I can see no sense or purpose of my existence. Every day is the same.

So setting the alarm for Torn is the most meaningful thing I could do.

Never set an alarm for Torn, or anything other than physically having to leave the house I think. It has eaten into my nights on more than one occasion though, whether it was radio, staff work, chaining or just talking to people. I don't view it as particularly bad, it doesn't negatively impact my life at all - and unless it starts to, there's no problem. Of course any time spent playing anything isn't as productive as working 24/7 - but where's the fun in that?

Things to do between waking up and doing somthing torn related.

-finding out that my bladder is overloaded
-fumbling for glasses : where are they?
-determining that glasses got smudged while sleeping
-stumbling downstairs
-take leak & wash hands
-clean glasses

Only with the above taken care off, can there be any prospect of coping with login-codes and captchas.
And all in all, I'd rather sleep.
