Is it just me or do you find that anyone that has unique items doesn't play torn anymore, like staff items, crowns etc
I have seen many people, like the first ever 2 torncity 'princess' for the torn submission.
its annoying because they are a waste now, i mean i think after say 100 days, they should automatically be sent to Chedburn or Anonymous to sell or to put up in the auction house for someone else to have?

If the account was deleted due to stupidly high inactivity / fedding yes i back for them to be given out in hamster giveaways / auctioned off BUT not anywhere near 100 days 1,000 maybe, i think people who quit for that long don't deserve an account with the intention of coming back or not.

1,000 days inactive / deleted account yeah, either way it don't annoy me.. makes the ones available more rare

i have mixed feelings on this. on one hand its their items. true they could come back. its a slippery slope, pretty soon people would want every SE or some other expensive item owned by an inactive person to be taken. on the other hand, i do wish those items would indeed circulate. i like having expensive (relative to me) things in my display. even if they were auctioned off and the proceeds taken out of the economy it would be good for the game. but then again in some cases its not even like they bought the item, they won it. i dunno buddy its definitely a dilemma and as much as i hate to say it i think the items should stay where they are.

The players won them, they are theirs, they can do what they want with them. Why should they be put up for auction so some random player with more money than sense can just waltz in and buy them...

That's like turning up at Graceland and asking for Elvis's gold disks as he's been dead a while now...

They're not his. The current owners aren't dead. That analogy is particularly backwards.

So you just want to rob from their accounts.

If I logged in after a break and seen that happened me I would be furious and quit and never return.

You should treat that kind of profiles with an abstractive fiction that they will come back any minute. Why? If they would just quit for good they would probably give out/sell/dump their items. Plus they have a kind of ownership on those items so it shouldnt be touched without their consent

Yeah things like that actually do happen... quite often in fact. Similar to a Van Gogh painting, or King Tut's sarcophagus. Those are very valuable pieces of history. More often than not they end up in museums....

Speaking of museums that could be a decent middle ground here. There could be a Torn History museum that displays the old collectibles from seemingly inactive accounts. If they decide to come back then the items are immediately returned to them. The idea could have legs, but I'm not certain how it would work.

some people go over a year away from this game, and then return...

By removing items from them that are special, will pretty much ensure they say screw it and never return again...

Why? The collectibles belong to those people, not you or anyone else would like to have them (perhaps to make a profit from them).

It would also open up the owners of these collectibles you want to get your hands on to a nice old fashioned mug-rape by a bunch of players - who'll be quite happy to take the proceeds of a forced auction sale off the hands of the "previous" owners of the collectibles - so on any level the idea is a shit one imo.

I disagree too, I would be very upset if I ended up in an automobile accident or some other horrific accident and unable to log in for months to finally log back in and find my items gone! How about hurricane sandy or the likes, some act of God or loss of job, eviction or a streak of bad luck, to finally log back in and find staff has taken your items for auction.
I feel it's pretty rotten of you to wish this type of bad luck upon someone because they have collectable items and you don't! just because they went inactive. I have heard of many people coming back after being inactive for years.
shame on you, after looking at your stats you must have been inactive for a while yourself.

You shall not set your desire on your neighbor's house or land, his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Just about the only reason why the matter could be frustrating is because you set your mind on something to which you had no claim whastsoever.

To add to this dont forget alot of the staff collectibles along with other collectibles are gifts and actually hold meaning not just to the person who has them sitting in there display but for the person who gave it to them.

As stated above, that people may return and they find empty account. Not cool.
Even if they quit, the items should stay with them. There's no need to take shoes from the deadman off.
The only exception is situation when player is fedded, then their items goes to Hamster and holidays giveaways.

I disagree for the simple reason there very rare and the more that go out of the game makes the rest rarer and higher in value .

I see these items as pieces from pharaos tomb. You can see them in a museum or a display.

You can not take away something from anothet account because of inactivity. To do that would be socialism.

I disagree as well. If you own something you obtained it with your account. You shouldn't lose all your items especially rare items just because you take a leave from the game, vacation away for a while, go to jail for a short or long time...etc. You should imo, never have to return to a stripped account. I would quit the damn game for good if that ever happened to me. People work too long and too long to obtain what they do in this game to have it stripped away just because some noob decides he wants to get someone else's items they worked to buy or obtain in some way.

Holy hell. kyle8048's outta fed.

I find many of these sentimental arguments mildly amusing, as this is a game where we roleplay to be criminals. Criminals . We mug. We kidnap. We murder. We steal.

So either from the server/npc, or another player - in this case an inactive player, who in all likeliness shan't return - what's the big deal?

I wouldn't mind those items redistribution. Someone mentioned 1000 days as the number. That is more than fair, and almost too long. If someone doesn't log in for almost three years, you're deluding yourself if you one, think they're coming back, and two, think they give a flip about any possession in they're account. They have obviously moved on with their lives.

I do not think rare items or one of a kind items should be put up for auction if the person has become inactive or deleted. If inactive they should just leave them with that account. Sure most likely after 1,000 days most people will not come back. Though 100 days plenty of people come back after that. People quit the game when they are in school so it does not interfere with their grades and school work and then come back when it is over. Also there are a lot of people who play this that are in the military and are gone for several months at a time and like to play when they come back.
If the account is going to be deleted the item should be taken out and put into a sort of Museum of Torn History and have little bits of information about the item and why it was given and who won it if won.
