To clarify this question concerns passive stat gains earned through education courses. As in (you have complete "insert whatever") course. Congratulations you've received a 1% speed bonus on passive stats.

Yes, that's what makes them passive (0 votes)

That's not what "passive" means.

I kinda figure passive to mean "only working when used"...Offense for sure, but on Defense? That's the question.

This.

Passive bonuses should have constant effect, attacking or defending.

both ways. (59)
if it were only offense, then you would need a shit ton of defense to survive. balance the passive opportunities out, and all will be good.

The question is on passive stat gains....not passive stats.
Education bonuses are passive gains on any of the 4 battle stats.
No matter what your total is for any given battle stat, if you have finished the course you get a further 1% passive gain (does not show on your total)

you are confused me thinks. there are many educations that give a passive boost to your stats.

I would agree. Seems to me that i got hit like 1 in every 5 or 6 of my hits in attacking even their speed are 1/100 of my dex. I don't know much about usefulness of def since i got pretty low (60k) def. but ya, people said def works good in attacking.

Sure, Ched can hop right on this as soon as he sets the dex of self busters to a max of a few billion. Otherwise you have people walking around with 30b+ dex that cannot be touched. Until that happens, dex will have to stay nerfed.

Passive is just the opposite of active, as in you don't have to activate the boost somehow (like you do with epinephrine).

irl the terms mean:

passive: something that stays constant in on or off position, until a secondary unit (often humans) tell it to change.. (f.eks a lamp with a manual switch)

active: something that has the ability to detect when it's needed, and turn itself on or off accordingly.. (f.eks a lamp with a light sensor)

so.. in torn,
passive stats stays activated (for both atk and def) until you remove/reset whatever give the bonus..

if it should work only when you need it to atk, it would also have to change name to active stats..
(that term wouldn make any sense on stats tho. cause the stats are just as much needed in def)

Ah another ex-selfbuster who wants his abnormal busting % gains on dex to get full effect again, whilst the rest of Torn population can screw themselves for not having self busted in the past.

I agree. I was mainly curious about the Passive bonuses obtained through Education courses. I would hope the merits spent on stats would work both ways for sure.

I feel like it should because it was available to all. It would be like saying that they should take away drugs then dial back stats of the people that used them. I didn't do a crime or train anything else for a year and I feel that my honestly earned stats should work.

Than again dex is probably too powerful on defense and defense isn't effective enough defending.

Some one that whores defense, neglects everything else, has zero dex and a 20th my dex in speed should never beat me but yet it happens all the time. Whom ever attacks with defense wins, should be fixed.
