Because it wasn't a plane and the world ended two days ago on schedule. The Mayans were right. Planet X collided with earth and killed us all.

The Celestial Committee elected to allow us to just think we're still alive because of the overcrowding it would cause at their place. Sort of a plan to keep the riff raff at bay. So if your reading this note. Pin it to your fridge as a reminder. You're really dead!
