You do lose the icon when clicked on if you have been outbid. |
so if I win the bid, then the icon stays?

Might be intentional I guess so that you can see that you won the next time you log in?
I'd expect the icon to direct you to the Auction House where you get to see a message at the top of the page stating that "you have won the auction for seller's item for $winning big price", after which the icon disappears for the next page load.

Doubt it. If I start a company and then erase it, the company director icon stays there indefinitely until I refresh my icons.
