I've been level holding for over 3 years now, no clue what lvl I should be at, I was holding at 24 but hit lvl up by accedent in my pocket from my phone.

Lowest you will drop in life is 50. Someone the level holder who is level 1 shows that seeing as him/her has od'd many times to only not drop below 50 life.
So no you can't go to 0 or negative life.

You can't weaken your character by not leveling up because whats going to happen if you reach lvl 100? Besides I've been holding since I started playing torn, I made it to level 25 in 40 days and been holding ever since. I suspect im around level 70-80 since I've beaten a lvl 70 something before. |

I've held mine for a few good years previously before the health update.
It did help most of the time initially but didn't in long wars(which was the case back then).
I think I leveled up from 28 - 60+ once the hp update kicked in and didn't look back. I level held for fun and had fairly defensive stats to begin with and if you were a lower level smashing a higher level , you could get more respect I believe.
Right now level holding really depends on the way you play the game and the way your stats are built. If you aren't warring, I don't see the reason to level hold. If you're a offensive player(str+speed) there's not point in level holding etc.

I held for a good while on level 40, Felt that people around my leveland expecially those a couple higher than me made me look a little weak. after how ever long it was, I then just decided to stop holding, getting about 7 levels, which was slightly disappointing after holding so long.
Since then, I've just immediately levelled every time. .

I agree, any differences in respect gains, if they exist, appear to be negligible.

I hold my level till my stats are comfortable enough to make me not so easy a target in war. Some say level holding if cheating and deceptive, I do not agree. If you take a moment to look at a persons stats before you attack you can see who holds and how does not. I held at level 1 for 7 months then up to 15 to fly and rehab. I have been holding ever since with the exception of a couple accidental level ups (Before Ched added the conformation)

Like a few others in this thread, I'm not upgrading my level as my stats won't be anywhere near powerful to what my level would be. By levelling up, I'd only pose a larger target to lower levels than myself but much better stats. Until I think my stats are good enough to defend myself at higher levels, I probably won't be upgrading any time in the considerably near future.

I just wanted to hit lvl 45 so from now on I will be holding as this lvl is the point which the higher lvled players with low stats and lower players with high stats hit the most. So I have higher chance to get hit and thus get more defends with my stats.

How long have you been holding your level? How long do you plan to keep it that way?
I've been holding mine for what I believe to be over 4 months now, but I've lost track over time. I don't plan on upgrading for at least another month, probably more considering my stats. I'm sure there's other players now that have been holding for MUCH longer than I have however. |

So what are reasonable stats to have at lvl 30,40 and 50? I read somewhere a half year ago or so someone saying in the forums that lvl 30 should be around a million and lvl 40 around 10 million.

I level held in the uupper 30's to low 40's after returning to the game from 1 to 1 1/2 years of inactivity. This was purely to catch up to reasonable stat levels for my age. After I capped my 3 main stats I started upgrading again.
I only really attack and leave /mug during the WW competition, so my level is almost purely stat training. I do not see the point to level hold and give up so many merits (1 medal per 5 levels, plus buy 1 merit per two, plus rank merits here and there). Life helps a lot too.
Someone with half your stats still has a decent chance of hitting you. If you are chaining and not waiting to heal a 200k-300k hit can be a loss or double KO, for certain if you are a level holder. Or you may survive a lucky crit and avoid a loss or double KO, especially if you have some defense to absorb some of their crit.
I heal 200k+ per 15 minutes too. Only bad players (or those with great stats) just attack w/o checking out an older player's stats anyway.
Level holding is pointless. If you can't afford to pay for sluts for the defend merits, odds are your stats suck despite level holding anyway.
