Right. So I am 2000+ days old. I have had top rank in law for years I swear. Never had an event of this. I have been in 5 star companies. The only thing which is different, is that I don't shares in IOU....

The description may say its random but its not specifically random, its likely random between a subset of users of yet we do not know how they are selected.
There is no answer in the "rest of the goddamn thread" so there is no point in starting to rule things out. Ive never gotten this event, but if it pays out that much i think there is a good chance the prerequisites if any cost quite a bit. Chances are if it were completely random there would have been a spat of new threads made when the low levels got their first ones.
I should also point out that a lot of people seem to be confusing this with the law special in which you trade points for cash. This i believe is an event that you can recieve at any time and costs nothing.
1k+ busts? 500+ times jailed? 5k+ thefts? 10k+ crimes?
After reading other posts in this thread, I think its definitely got something to do with BB of IOU stocks, nothing to do with the law job or the law education part, and something to do with doing lots of crimes because only the really old players seem to be getting them....

i viewed stats of people on this thread saying to receive the event, and come up with the list below, maybe one of these is the trigger?
spent over $1 million on bounties
collect over $1 million bounties
criminal offense over 10,000
Bailed over 50 people
does anyone achieve the above and still not receiving any event?
i have never had one of these events but have collected over a million in bounties and done more than 10k crimes.flying so i'm not sure about bails but i haven't spent a million on bounties.I like your thinking though.Bogie said there is a specific trigger and comparing all stats between players who have received the event and those who haven't could take a long time.Need some players who have never had the event before to get one and find out what milestones they have passed recently or see if someone like Nerbas can help

I think it's not a milestone reached, as I've gotten then and then went long periods of time without.
If it was only IOU bb bogie would have confirmed, he said he can't tell unless we figure it out.
I do however think it's related to stocks in some way. My #1 theory now is # of benefit blocks held. The reason for this is that I buy and sell my stocks often and the number of blocks I hold is the only thing changing with my account. Until recently I was only holding 16 blocks for 3+ months, about 10-14 days ago I added Grain, then Home Retail and Lastly IOU over a 2-3 day period, bringing the total to 19. After I added the IOU is when I started to get the events again, thus my thinking IOU was the trigger.
So, has anyone who has gotten this event hold less than 19 benefit blocks, and if so how many?

That's not it either - I cycle between 10 and 15 benefit blocks at any one time and have been getting class actions the whole way along...
Given that class actions require other players to use the job special I'd say the "breaks" you get are a combination of random chance not favouring you and less players actually using the special over that timespan.

IOU bb sure seams to be a part of the trigger, If it's not IOU bb and it's not total # of BB then maybe it's # of cash dividend paying benefit blocks, like 3 or more.
Of the milestones listed above I have only done 10k+ crimes....
I have an IOU BB and get these events all of the time.
Also of note, I haven't received any dividends from IOU since these events have started to pop up. Definitely seems related.
@ Ken, I also haven't gotten any dividends from TCC or TMI so maybe this is instead of the way they used to send out dividends?
(Or maybe the class action suits are by the shareholders who haven't received dividends in a long time :-o )

I have Grain, Torn Clothing, PRN, and IOU. IOU was the last BB i bought.
If I had to make a guess i'd say you need the IOU BB and you probably had to have been online in the last hour. Will have to think about it the next time I get one and see if I received the event within an hour from logging off.
Going back to the 4 i've received in the past week they're all at times where I was likely online within an hour of receiving the event.

Errr - do you have stock benefits or notice how item finds in the city work, because that is exactly what happens.
There is definitely a trigger but it's not having an IOU BB because some players who have been on the receiving end of class action payouts don't have an IOU BB.
The trigger qualifies you for getting class action events but I strongly suspect that from there the frequency with which they occur is partly random (ie. your number needs to come up to be included in a player's class action) and partly based on how many players are actually using the special, so looking at the breaks between receiving class action events is a little misleading when it comes to trying to figure out what the trigger is.

You are assuming that they are telling the truth. It is like the blue name thing. That Eagle guy claims it is through donating and Diggity claims it isn't. Both have blue names.
Some people will lie to spread disinformation so that the majority won't capitalise on the benefits.
I'm guessing that it is IOU. I will be buying a BB when my bank is due.
