The website is too busy to show the webpage

HTTP 408/HTTP 409

What you can try:

This is a GO**AMN TORN BUG, it never ever happens anywhere else. Finally look into this and maybe FIX it please? Thanks

From your previous reports:

By philoten [1646213]
I access Torn from 2 computers, work and home...
My work computer is slower than my home computer. I only have these errors on work computer. Never had them while accessing from my home computer.
It might just be your computer is slow and doesn't receive the information back from the Torn servers in time to load the page.

By bl0ndie [179706]
This issue is with you, not Torn

Try resetting your router.

By Swag [929733]
Ive explained this once already. 408 and 409 errors are client side errors. You may need to flush your DNS. Do that and try a different browser. IE sucks terribly.

By Swag [929733]
This is something to do with your browser. These errors are misleading in the way they title themselves. A 408 error occurs when your client (browser) is too slow for the server. The 409 error occurs when there is a conflict accessing information on the server. A server uses a HTTP 503 error when they are too busy.

Are you using Internet Explorer?

I can see you're using IE10 (from other posts you've made), can you try something, well, better? what about the flushing DNS thing, I can't see where you've said you have tried that, have you?

My INFO:

1. Fast Computer less than 1 year old.
2. Fast Internet DSL , 15 MBS , Owned by Telephone Company TDS.
3. I Delete Browsing History and also close browser 3+ times / day (that's Cache Flush too 3 times / day I have that set too.
4. Tried Firefox, Chrome, and Opera too besides and Error repeats on those too, can't see how that's any better if Error isn't fixed there(s)?

ONLY thing left is Error happens ONLY at TORN itself when I'm logged in, it NEVER happens visiting or logged into any other website. So my conclusion is this IS a TORN BUG and something is at fault on the TORN server(s) to cause this. Thanks for helping

I get these on my phone at home but not on my fast work internet so I think its my end, but if anyone can confirm this and prevent a 6th bug report it will be the less good looking Alex from Torn staff, davzz.

I've been getting a load of 408's too... i'll screen shot the next one.
It could well be my shitty Chinese connection though (I know nothing about this sort of thing)

Yeah maybe not, just weird it happens in some places I play and not others, I would think if it's a TORN issue then it would happen everywhere, but I'm no server expert, unlike Davzz.

Hi,

We log every request that hits one of our servers. You seem to always come from one IP address (69.130.59.1xx). We have these HTTP status codes returned to you over the last 7 days as follows:

http_code count
101 2430
200 434667
301 2
302 136
304 5822
404 122
503 1

The last time you showed a error message it quite clearly was served by your ISP, using Apache (which we do not use).

These logs do show some 408 results (from other IPs), 5,390 results in the last 7 days. The graph shows no particular peaks. This is normal for a site serving up the quantity of traffic that TORN is. We have to set timeouts for clients (which in your case seems to be you ISPs reverse proxy) and we have increased them really as far as we can (making them too large makes us excessively vulnerable to a specific type of dDOS attack, and uses a lot of memory on our frontend loadbalancers).

We have no logs showing HTTP 409s in the last 7 days.

Can you please try to use the SSL version of the website and report if you still have problems? Can you confirm you are still getting these, i.e. have had one in the last week? If so we are certainly not sending them to you, this is a problem with your ISP. I appreciate that you dont see this with any other site, but that does not help me - i'm logging what goes out from our systems, and its not a HTTP 408 to you, or HTTP 409 to anybody.

Hi, I appreciate the help on this. I'll try to see if my ISP is tweaking the numbers somehow and causing this somehow? But I do have 2 Points on this issue if this is the case.

1. If I am getting this Error with TORN (ISP Fault) then why don't I get this Error with any other BUSY website also??? (ISP Fault also but should show up elsewhere too if that's the case)

2. IF it IS my ISP at fault and they're the Telephone Company and providers to like 1,000,000 people wouldn't they get ONE HELL of a LOT of Phone Calls on this problem from like every Internet user? Point here is IF it IS my ISP then problem wouldn't be a problem for long (and not months long either) He He He, they'd lose customers for crappy service.

I think problem is at TORN end and you'll notice more on this issue when you reach like 250,000+ active users online everyday (then you'll really notice) Thanks anyways for helping

More Info:

This BUG seems to happen a LOT more often when TORN is in its' NON Slider-Bar State (Input Boxes instead of Sliders, Mobile Torn Version I think). Also whenever I Log out TORN defaults this version to me, so I have to click on my Favorites button to restore the Full TORN Version (Slider-Bars come back for purchases and so do the images in Points Menu, Full TORN I think for this State)

I am guessing that TORN thinks that there are a LOT fewer Mobile users than (Regular Landline) so the (Priority) Variable is Set much lower and thus I get this Error a LOT.

I also checked my ISP, I am getting Premium Service (which is what I pay for), and connection speeds are far better than what most people ever get (what I usually see when at other websites). Current connection averages 15 Megabits per second (according to ISP Tech at his computer console).

I play Torn about 99% from my phone and ive never had a 408/409 error. If it was a Torn issue, im pretty sure everyones would experience this at some point. A 408 error is pretty much like you Walking up to someone and saying "Hey you" and then them standing there looking at them stupid and them waiting on you to say something and then they walk off. It means the initial request was made, but your client didnt make a coherent request in the amount of time the server allowed. This error could be caused by a virus, security settings, all kinds of things. But, as ive said many times before, i can pretty much guarantee that this isnt a Torn issue.

Also, flush your DNS, not just your cache. Just got to your command prompt and enter ipconfig /flushdns

I have done the Command Prompt and ipconfig/flushdns , it said it successfully did so. I'll see if that helps with BUG, but I'm not holding my breath.

I get these frequently. It comes up instantly and is not due to the page loading for too long or anything. Sometimes it just seems like the server doesn't give enough time for us to connect to it.

OK ... NOW this BUG happened WHILE I was in an Attack for a Chain (Default putting me in Hospital cause it involuntarily forced me to run and I got shot in back, OVERSEAS too)

IF TORN Settings are set to cause this ERROR (Because you want to stop DDos Attack or whatever) well now you're adversely affecting GAMEPLAY for TORN users (and not Hackers) AND on PURPOSE which sucks.

AND I'll also repeat this ERROR does NOT happen at any other Website AND multiple users at TORN get this ERROR so it SHOULD be FIXED.
