Well i ended up in someone elses faction chat twice in the last couple of minutes, but it seems its ok now. Cant realy add much more info as i didnt realy pay attention to details, just noticed weird names, and a very weird conversation about female period, so i run out asap.

Google Chrome - just appeared as Raystar01 in New Player chat; company chat and faction chat were missing.
Have logged in using FireFox and it's all ok - except I have no faction chat.
EDIT - I have no faction chat because I am now Sarge314

Fixes:
- If you are experiencing an issue where you appear as another user in chats, please take the following steps:
-- Log out of Torn and clear your cache. http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser's-Cache
-- Close your browser
-- Log back in to Torn
-- Post here that you have experienced this issue

Just so it's known, this doesn't fix the issue. I just did this 6 times in a row and on the 7th time I was finally on my real name.
Adelia and BambinaDuckie were present in the chatboxes and witnessed it.
And the fact you can get stuck in other factions chatboxes, and view private conversations someone else has had, that's a pretty hefty bug.
Honestly tho, I have seen a couple admins post "Ban list updated" like 3 times in the last hour or so on people breaking simple chatbox rules. The admins have no way of seeing if it's the real person or not, but are yet banning people left and right for trolling, and it's entirely possible that it's not even that person posting the messages.
In my opinion, chat boxes need to be taken down until this is fixed, end of story.

It happened to me as well as I logged on to check how long until I arrived in the UK there were a lot of chats open (I only keep the faction one, everything else I keep closed) there was a conversation going on in this chat, I tried to say something in there but I showed up as someone else...to make things worse it was a chat in which Bogie (the secretary/mod) was in... (and I was appearing as Bogie, of all people) so I immediately logged off as soon as the shock started going around.
What's going on?

Yesterday one of my faction asked if I could lend his mate 50mill, and my faction member would repay me in a couple of days. I mailed him when I came on line; turns out it wasn't him at all but someone exploiting the bug, impersonating someone I trust to get money out of me. Is chat fixed? If not take it down!

Just to notify, as I logged out and back in and chat went back to normal, but ...
Came back to my computer and was in torn post flying (had been idle a while), and chat came up with the wrong name, possibly the wrong faction (I didn't recognise the name of the person who made previous comment in chat, but may be faction newb?), and I had a company chat even though I am not in a company at the present time.
Edit - using Chrome. Did not close browser or clear cache to fix problem, just the log out log in.

I used the trade chat and kinda freaked out when i saw i had a different user name
It's ok now though..did all the steps and it seems fixed

if the previous problems arent enough
we had a faction member log into chat as clancy......
...luckily said member was mature enough not to abuse that position....
...but really how close do you need to sail to the wind to realise fix it or close it down urgently...
...what could have happened in chat being the top admin in game???

My faction chat has changed to the one for SA sports club, and im appearing as Mir3k when i post
edit: i just cleared my cache and the faction the chat is for has changed to another and i appear as someone else

Same as above....
Actual name - Ozzy123 (1651224), but Displayed name - TheDreadKinght (1313275).
This is incorrectly showing in the faction chat, and I have tested to see if it does the same in the Company chat, but can confirm that now the company chat shows a 'Sorry, failed to send message..' but did show when tested earlier at 15.20 - TCT, Thu.

Yep.. sometimes it takes more than one round of logging in and out to get my name back. Generally it's been offline people, but I have had someone who was online and inactive for 9 mins.

Using Firefox I get no chat boxes at all ( signed into full torn ) .
No enable button .
Using IE I get random boxes , random names - same as everyone else .

I really hope this bug has high priority and will be fixed soon ..
No pressure or so but have had 3 different people in my faction chat in 1 hour talking like they were me ..
