This has been tested on multiple computers including win 7 and with the firefox browser. When left on the log in page too long it will cause the entire browser to hang/stop responding and/or crash.

I also have this problem.
It seems to occur when the live events are running.
After a bit you end up with an error box saying a script may have failed or stopped working.
It has happened with the last two Firefox releases as best I can remember.

This also happens with websites such as Facebook so I doubt there's much we can do.
Confirmed for Chedburn to see his thoughts

I have the scripts from addtoany.com blocked so I don't even have live events etc. running and have the issue. Depending on what response we get I guess I could try blocking others and see what happens.

Confirmed. Happens to me on Google Chrome, I noticed this a while ago (A few times) but I thought it was just my computer which is why I failed to report.

Something cause's the page to freeze.

It depends what you are using to 'remove' the elements you don't want, but with say, Adblock - the elements still load/run, but they are just hidden from your view. So if it's Adblock or something similar, don't be so quick to rule anything out.

OT: I'm using Firefox 15.0 (beta 4) and have no issues with this, and I've never experienced it from Firefox 3.6 (stable) to now (on both X P & Vista). Knock on wood I guess lol

Passed this on to Kevin for thoughts, I imagine it's just because of chat / events building up and up until crash. Kevin would we need to bring alex in to this to fix, or do you have any ideas?

This also. If I keep global/trade chat box open for long, the memory usage on Firefox rises to the point were I have to restart the browser to use it.

Just adding that I've been experiencing this issue as well. It's been a huge headache to try and problem solve because every time it happens it was corrupting some addons I have which were then causing other issues. I'm going to try sticking to the mobile version of the website for now and see if that it a good temporary fix.
