It was working earlier today, but I have gone through almost ten, nearly all of which I would be willing to swear I got absolutely correct and yet it doesn't act as though the words typed were correct. Please check and see if there is a problem with google or some other issue with the audio captcha.
It was working properly just over an hour ago...
and what pray tell is the word that is pronounced like
de sid er
the one that sounds like loser? looser seems to work.
I went through several to get ones that I was absolutely sure about with no joy and I cannot race/train/do crimes until this works. Please check and more importantly, repair immediately!
As I told you and Nic on irc, I did not clear my cache. Audio challenge system was changed and whether or not any changes were made by Torn does not matter. I realize change takes a while to propogate especially for organizations the size of google. There may be complaints about the new system once again given the speed at which the numbers are spoken. It may behoove Ched to insure that his support staff is sensative to legal issues that may impact his business. He may also wish to review the logs of #help for the timeframe starting at the first post in this thread and ending with this one. Simply recognizing someone that has worked a similar issue in the past is not "rude" and was done with a spirit of helpfulness since resolving my issue was in my best interest.
This is the third time this year that there have been issues with recaptcha. Ched may wish to review his options and decide whether or not he wishes to implement alternatives in addition to the audio challenge for his customers with visual impairments.
there was a period presumably during the switchover that it no longer responded to correctly typed words. In another words it was still the old system but it wasn't actually processing input (from the effect). Eventually it corrected itself with the new captchas. Given the length of time prior occurances have taken to be resolved I posted this thread and got on #help on irc to request that the thread be checked and confirmed so that it would come to your attention. During my "discussion" with Nic, Marc came on irc. Since I had the old thread up and recognized him as having dealt with confirmation of this issue in the past I asked him to check it and he refused, Nic got "annoyed" at my request, etc... I just feel that since recaptcha audio challenge is the only way we have of verifying for gyms, crimes, racing, travel and since it is a known accomodation issue for visually impaired it should have a bit of priority over issues that do not shut down major portions of the site for an equally sized segment of the Torn user base. I also felt that the irc chat could have been handled with a bit more sensativity given that I clearly stated in the beginning that audio challenge was the sole means by which I could verify based on the fact that I am blind. I did not ask them to fix it, I merely requested that they check it, confirm it so that it would be brought to your attention.
As for the new system, other than the numbers were a bit fast I haven't had any issues once it actually worked.
I am connected to envy. Recaptcha seems to be back to the old systems (words via audio challenge) and I have done it multiple times with at least three times I know I got all words correct and it goes nowhere. Apparently broken again?
Can you take a look at this please?
This has nothing to do with us, but google. All we do is allow google to display their recaptcha on our website. And then do everything else. They run the entire system and I cannot fix, change or break anything. I'm not sure what to do.
I don't know what to tell you, all I know is that it is broken and I have even less capability to fix it than you. I played guess the number last night and happened to get it right on guess 3. I can do that today, but at some point I am going to exceed the number of wrong answers and that will be that for the rest of the day.
Do you have any points of contact with google? Is this some service you are paying for or part of some service you are paying for? If so, call tech support and yell and scream about having blind customers who are totally down only because this service is broken... If I can help any, let me know... Maybe give people trying to use this system a free pass after attempt 3 or 5 or whatever...
Check posting "audio challenge" which links to this one. It was posted this week as were three of my posts. The system is currently broken, has been verified currently broken and that was what Ched's last post was in regards to.
Go check for yourself, use recaptcha, get audio challenge..... No secret decoder ring needed, just common sense and the willingness to listen, check and think before running one's mouth.
Blaiming Google doesn't cut it. I am not a google donator. If google's system doesn't work then Torn should make it's own, use a different one, or make it unnecessary... You have alternatives, throwing your hands up and saying it's hard does not alter your responsibilities.
