I cant enable the chat. When i click the enable chat link nothing happens

Also having this issue. My chat boxes have dissappeared. Then when I click on chat it says,
"Chat is not running. You can enable it."
When I click to enable it nothing happens.

You clicked the button to synch with an internet time server? That's what Marc meant; don't just 'check' that the time is right.
After you've done that, clear your cache and try Torn again.

I can confirm that this is an issue with HTTPS.
Basically there are some things in chat not implemented correctly so it's blocked by the internal security of the browser.
This is quite poorly done, and should be fixed ASAP! This is just not acceptable.
Especially considering the City Watch directs users to the secured site.
"Just remove the s from https" as Marc suggested is just not a viable solution and is just plain dumb. We should not be required to do this, especially considered some of us donated, just to get the City Watch, and the City Watch directs to the secured site. Telling the users to "just remove the s" is arrogant.
Also regarding the Chat on the laptop, where Chedburn's answer is:

This is also plain wrong. Ask the users in my faction (The users of my script) to confirm that I fixed chat on laptop using my script.
The only thing wrong with the chat on the laptop is that the corresponding javascripts aren't even loading!
My scripts quite simply injects the corresponding JS files
/js/jquery.js
/js/jstorage.min.js
/js/base.js
/js/longpoll.js
/js/chat.js
and the css file /css/chat.css
And triggers top.chat.start(), voila Chat is enabled on laptop.

I'm also having issues with this. Does not work on Chrome. Does not work on IE through http. My computer clock is synced with time.windows.com.
Though Ched said a new chat system is underway? I guess I'll just wait for that
Thought I should also say I cannot enable this on my laptop either. I'll see if I can enable it on a university computer next time I'm there.

my chat isnt displayed anywhere at all
i have contacted staffs also
i havent been banned also......i deleted all temporary files and catches but also it didnt worked.i used many browers but still was the same
plz help me
i also cannot travel

I had the same issue and it disappeared when I removed the "s" from https (I never wanted to use https in the first place). I even posted a thread about this: https://www.torn.com/forums.php?forumID=3&ID=14662435
I am also having other troubles with https (not present in http), like a few times after I traveled, only about 20% of the page is loading, even if I refresh several times (it's not even lagging).
