I received the following event:
08/07/11 7:10:06 AM You came 7th in the Shearwater race. Your best lap was 01:30:28. Click here to join a new race.
And when I looked at the results page I was nowhere to be seen...is this a bug or did I just have a really, really bad race?

I think only 6 people can enter a race. Hence your name didn't came up. Seems like a mistake here. Confirming.

It's been possible for a while, here's a screenshot of my last race

It is possible that this happens yes: when 2 people join the same race for the last spot at exactly the same time.
Ched said it was pretty rare, but possible.
Will however not move this topic until an admin decides about it though
