chaining was done from HT http://www.torn.com/factions.php?step=profile&ID=1149 (chaining IV)
what I guess is that it is a decimal to the actual timer, and that a chain breaks if you get more than 480.99 sec between hits, and that this was less, but it was rounded down to the closest second
(I don't run around and check bugs forums, so please mail me ingame if someone wants more info or find out what was causing this)

I think you are on the right track with the guess you posted. I'm confirming for a coder to look into, because based on what you get to see it shouldn't break indeed.

Please do not post these issues. Times on servers fluctuate by a couple of seconds, this will always happen every now and then.... In fact, we add a few seconds to chains by default so they're not accidentally lost due to server time differences - so this will always happen.
