and your point is what?

torn has its own servers and control units, the developers get paid for their work...
all of that costs money

on paper tc prolly is worth that.

Ifd thats what he is paying out he needs to slap a few people around the place.
The last few months were the worst I have ever encountered on ANY site I have ever visited.
Id say lost of new player joined and stayed for a week or so if even and then never to be seen again.

Ched himself admitted the article was full of exaggerations. There might have been one month where 50k revenue was brought in, but is nowhere near that on average. Somebody posted Torn's financial numbers in the other thread on the first page of GD

I was just about to post something very similar.

If I was a million air I would spend some time getting good coders. Not just hiring one in to clean up some of the guys mess and the let him be on his way.

DP's do not appear out of thin air. Take a look at top 20 factions, I assume most / all are donators. Many may have used years worth of DP's, but it gives you a very rough idea of DP usage. Track DP circulation from week to week. If it increases by say 500, that is actually 500 + whatever DP's were used in a week.

I think companies are "worth" 5x annual revenue, or at least 5x annual profit. If you're making $1m per year in profit, why would you sell your company for only $1m (1 year's profits). So 5x annual profit is reasonable estimate.

So, for gross revenue, $200k per year gives company value of $1m. 200k / $5 per DP = 40k DP's. It takes about 3.3k active users to consume 40k DP's per year. Seems reasonable that at least 40k DP's would be consumed per year. Not sure on server costs, but lets assume enough extra DP's are sold above 40k per to cover most / all server and coder costs. Someone with recent DP circulation numbers can post here to give better insight.

You probably looked up the value of the domain name torn.com
as in the the actual name torn.com or torncity is worth 17k.

Which makes sense, those of you who have knowledge of web hosting would know that "premium domains" sell from £1000 to £15000 so it makes sense that an popular game such as this, its domain would be worth 17k.

The value of torn based on both income, and user base, would probably be at least a million. How much of that can be liquidated if necessary is another story.

My guess would be that the "full-time" people are more in the realm of systems support + part-time PHP coding. Or they could be full time, but live in India / eastern Europe (i.e. probably 20%-30% of UK / USA programmer cost). It seems like a professional full-time PHP coder could crank out a massive amount of code (I am, and I work with 40 such people). However, if the developer is busy refactoring spaghetti code, he/she/they could be busy for months getting things sorted out to be more maintainable / expandable. Also, it works better if you have developers for particular features...switching gears constantly for different parts of a product slows you down. One feature developer for all of Torn could be doing a lot of gear-switching.

The company is limited and yes, abbreviated accounts need to be filed.

But the information on them is excuse the pun, limited, you, me and anyone one else who views them will not have any idea how much the company is worth.

So where you've got your figure from, no idea.
