I'm curious about the hanging speech marks. "get acquainted cocktail. Would make sense if it was "get acquainted" cocktail. Or get acquainted "cocktail."

No, the ending was fine. I have never been a whore so no pick-up line would have worked with me. He would have had a shot with my bar buddies though. At least one would have made it to the car with him, I'm sure.
