The stock market changes have now been released. It will require tweaking over the next couple of days, but other than that we are very happy with the outcome.
- Users have to now trade shares with each other, not directly back to Torn City. There are however NPCs who buy shares occasionally based on certain odds and stock traits.
- Users can now sell shares on a market. It is not a viewable market, buying and selling works the way it used to, but transactions are between users, not User Torn City. All transactions are anonymous.
- 6 hour stay-in rule is now removed, since there is no need any more.
- Stocks have been changed to go up and down more, and have huge spikes. Each of the stocks now have more individual character.
- Some stocks now go up and down based on what happens in Torn City. For example, BAG (Big al’s Gun Shop Stock) goes up and down depending on how many people buy guns. TCHS goes up and down depending on how many people are in hospital over time. And many more.
- Stocks now have forecasts. Forecasts range from “Very Good” to “Very poor” which can be used as an indication of how much the stock will go up/down for the next few days / weeks. This may not always be correct.
- Shares have been placed in to the stock market via NPCs, these shares can then be purchased by users and traded amongst other users. There are only a certain amount of shares available in each stock, but if some stocks become very popular, we can easily add more shares.
- A demand structure has been added. If shares are for sale for long periods of a certain stock (if no one wants to buy the stock) the price will gradually fall. If lots of people want to buy the stock but there aren’t any sellers, prices will gradually rise. Basically, user demand for stocks affect stock price.
- Users are now able to purchase shares in the TCSE as a whole, not individual stocks. Buying and selling of this will be much quicker, but there won’t be many large gains/falls. A good place for people to ‘dabble’ in the stock market quickly and easily, and relatively safely.
- Users can also trade stock transactions with each other, for whatever prices they want.
There are also other changes to come, bank interest will be changed shortly to give us more control over the economy, company taxes may also be introduced.
Is the new stock market capable of crashing? I'm down 70mil now for investing in this new stock market and it does not look like it is going back up at all..
Meth.. I've been stock in The Empty Lunchbox Building Traders stock for almost a hold week and it's been dropping steadily.. I started with 250mil and now I'm down to 176mil.. It's really a major pain because I tried to sell for a whole day when it was up and no one was buying. No one still is buying and it's just dropping when in the real stock market, I should be able to sell my stocks back into the company without a fuss. They buy and sell all the time in the real stock market so why can't it behave the same way on the game. It just doesn't make sense! If they really wanted to make some real improvements, they should allow people on the game with companies the options of putting there company in the stock market instead of making these fake businesses and wondering why they are seeing too much money being moved around. I just think that would make more sense.

I see, the stock is dropin and has been red for a while it also takin a lot, altho it only turn green once, it seem ur money is stuck there.. it won't sell to it raise and it would be type hard for someone to buy a stock that not sellin.. I really don't know if the system it self would raise.. but if it doing poor now it going to drop to 3 colums atm its only 2, after that it should raise on it self..

That really stinks! Rich people that play in the stock market behave like we do when it comes to buying and selling. No one wants to stick in a stock market that is falling so they sell to salvage what they have and move on to the next. There is nothing wrong with that theory. What is wrong with this game now is that they are trying to make the stock market more complicated than it is. The stock market is about gambling and being able to move your money around at will. It's about being intuitive about the fluctuations of a business and being able to see a threat and move your money before it becomes a problem. Your money should not be stuck in the market. This is not one of those kinds of investment accounts. If Ched is so worried about losing game money on his end, then he can simply simplify the problem by allowing people that have companies with a certain amount of wealth to be able to put their company on the market so then there will be a large amount of realism in the game vs this nonsense market that he created. Thanks for responding to me Meth. This stock market just makes me want to quit the game and never come back. I know he's doing that so people can buy dps, but I'm just not wit it. I'll never buy another dp again.
Haven't been much of a stock market person but decided to throw some funds in there and see what happens. and the went up $30 from when I bought it so I put my shares on the market and then the stock started to fall and nobody is buying my shares and it continues to fall until i'm losing $3 a share. this is bullshit. never using the stock market again
This stock market sucks...I have been trying to sell my shares for weeks...I am going to cut my losses and never play the market again,.. unless they do something about this! Ched could probably careless if we stopped playing or buying DPs because he profits from the new players..
