I also lost a valuable item in the upgrade. I found a parachute when walking around the city. I set up an ad for it in #traders and #tradingpost and went out for a few hours. When I come back, it had gone.

Once again a donator o/

Buying new hardware will fix all these problems.......................

Maybe i should try that at work. Unfortunately out in the real world, people see through BS like this.

Firstly lag is caused by a number of issues other then servers hitting capacity. Have you really got montioring in place that you can be certain the cause of bottlenecks in the servers? And wheren't the servers upgraded about a year back?

Seriously, prehaps instead of throwing hardware at the problem, you need to invest in some proper monitoring of the systems you have in place first.
Next, actually get someone in who knows about servers (and not Davz) to plan a proper implementation of the systems which would include some proper capacity planning. Or else we will see another thread in a years time saying you are getting more hardware to deal with the lag etc.

And finally, realise that you have some people who play this game who know shit when they see it.

Excellent! Why fix the lag when you can throw money at the issues instead? Yay team!

Well Ched's quote that no one lost any items seems to be in contradiction with the growing number of bug reports. (See items)

It seems that like myself, anyone who had a trade open, but had not accepted it before the shutdown lost everything.

This makes perfect sense, how can resetting the servers to a point in time before the shutdown, restore a trade that was never accepted.

Ched can keep denying that anyone lost all he likes, it wont make it true.

The growing number of reports seem to confirm that!

...

No, everyone was reset back 2 hours before. So your trades didn't even start. You would have had whatever you had two hours before. Everything you traded during that time would be reset, back where it was two hours before.

I'm sure we upgraded hardware less than a year ago. The fact is, Torn City is growing so fast we need new hardware to contain new users. At the time of the last big hardware update, I remember the daily users being around 25k, now it's over 40k. So no... Obviously you don't know 'shit' when you see it.

I'm pretty sure that he simply meant that what happened within that 2 hour time period was lost, just like this last time he said that what happened in a 4 hour period was lost. Just file a report, and chances are it will be looked at when there is time... Otherwise, just stfu, we all go through the bs every once in a while and hassling everyone involved helps nobody...

And the lag 2-3 years ago was not really all that terrible... (Yeah, I know, I was here too) It was good to bad depending on the ever increasing traffic here, and slowly the servers improved with the player #'s. It's pretty funny how people mis-remember the past so that it is so much harder and rugged, and youngsters should thank their lucky stars to have it so good... blah blah blah...

If you don't know what your talking about why open your mouth a prove your an asshole,I have lost money and so have other people.
Hassling people is the only way things get done around here,I'm not really expecting to get my money back judging from the replies I've had so far from staff

Topic: New Hardware

We have brand new hardware on the way. We are doubling our database power by improving our old systems and adding new servers. This should certainly reduce lag to an absolute minimum and hopefully stop random issues from occurring.

The ETA on these new servers is around 10 days. We will post another announcement stating the date we wish to install them.

Thank you.
.

can anybody really belive it this time?????
how many times the last year have staff said the same thing????

So wait, lets see the maths on this. you went from 25K users to 40K users, that is a 62.5% increase in load.
Most people would build capacity to handle twice expected load.
So when you had 25K users, what was your expected load based on? 30K users, 35K users?
So lets say it was 35K, as I am sure you would have thought you could do far better then 30K. So you would have used a 35K user base as the inital base when it comes to planning capacity. OK, so prehaps saying double that would be out of your league. Surely you would have built in some extra capacity to at least 45K, 50K.............

Oh wait, thats not how capacity planning works, lets just pick out random servers and say yet thats what we need!
Thats where I have been going wrong all these years!
