Well.. It happened again. This is certainly one of the more challenging issues we’ve come across. There was a huge amount of lag, locking many of the pages for minutes, which left the whole admin team scratching their heads. And then.. Again.. The table storing the items randomly deleted itself. This time, the downtime was much less thanks to the lessons we learnt last time.

We decided it would be best to revert all users back to the most recent backup (two hours before the crash). This was instead of just reversing the items table back two hours. This prevents many item market/auction bugs, makes it fair for everyone, and takes a lot of stress off of the admins (who are still working hard trying to recover the items from last time).

I could say I’m sorry, but that probably wouldn’t help things. We have no idea what’s causing the issues but we’re taking big steps to make sure it doesn’t happen again. We are going to increase the backup time of the items so hopefully much less data will be lost in the event that it happens again. We also know that this ‘huge lag’ happens right before the items table deletes itself, in this case, we will have to close the site temporarily until we get our new servers which are on the way. The ETA of the new servers is about 10 days, I will post these minor details in a separate announcement.

I know I lost around a potential 360k from this lag as well (not in stocks or items).
