Turning off the ability to see profile sigs is not an option for some people. They have playlists they like to listen to. I listen to other peoples playlists and like to not have interference.

The only half smart answer i have read so far is to program a warning before people click to view a profile...but that i think is a very hard thing to do. And is probably impossible even due to so many different types of playlists being used.

**We must be able to look through profiles in order to play the game to its fullest...so saying "stay off my profile" is about the most ignorant comment I have read yet.
**It is called a "Donator pak" for a reason...we donate. We do not own any of tc by doing so. Even if this is a valid point we could make, then I would say that donators have the right to play tc without interruption from unwanted music.
**There are places in the world that can not get high-speed...that have bandwidth issues....or other issues that are out of the users control. Telling people to get a better connection, computer, etc...is not even logical in most cases.
**You can still have your music....everyone can listen to what they want...what better compromise is there? Ched could have just as easily say we can't even have a playlist :/ That I would consider very one-sided.
**Losing the autoplay is not an automatic beginning of losing everything on your profile as has been mentioned.
**This issue is not an issue of legal matter. It does not violate any freedom of speech laws or freedom of expression laws.

If Ched can and does decide to program a warning to each profile that has playlist set to autoplay, then that would be great. But failing that possibility, and with nothing else said that would work for all players....I am still happy with the new rule.

There is other options they are called icons and there are several on this game and it wouldnt be hard to place on beside the players name that has auto play and games and such there is also the possibility of color coating names black colored names are auto play free and red colored names has auto play as a example there are many things that can be done

this is the same as the compromise i stated is the best i have heard yet...some sort of warning to players before they click the name that takes them to the profile.

I do not know if this can be done...only the coders can answers this.

It is my understanding that this would be hard - impossible ... due to the amount of different playlist that are being used? I really don't know about this...

so it is up to ched or someone else to decide if this can and will be done?

There doesn't have to be a 'compromise'

If people want to listen to your music, they'll click the play button.
You'll see this method known as 'choice' used often in real life scenarios.
For instance, even though some people like to be brutally ass pounded, I don't just go round doing it to everyone.
Saying 'just turn of profile signatures' is like me saying 'just lock your door'.

i agree...there doesn't HAVE to be a compromise...I am also in favor of the new autoplay rule.

But I think also that of all the ideas for allowing autoplay...this is the best for the Pro-autoplay people. And it would really not be hard to deal with if you are Anti-autoplay. At least there is a warning

There have been many posts saying...give ideas...my opinion is that this is the best one the Pro-autoplay side has given. I am just acknowledging that.

IF this was done...i think most people on both sides could live with it?

A warning would be great, but I'm not sure if that kind of code is feasible.
If it can detect auto music (pre-loading every big flash file presumably), then we could just choose to mute profile sounds in profile options? But honestly, staff aren't going to code something so huge and complicated.

I would absolutely love the option of being able to link to a music file somewhere so your TC profile has its own music, and then people can decide to turn that off or on.

Eg:
> Profile Music

Enter link to music file to play on your profile (no (c) music*):
[ ]

You are currently not playing other peoples profile music
Change

*disclaimer etc

Darn you, getting me to be reasonable

see? doesn't it make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside?

i also like that idea

The bottom line to almost every argument "for and against" is about a person having a choice.

I doubt any of this will be done...and again i am not sure if it can be....but it is "food for thought"

Great move. Keep autoplay off. It's utterly useless. If the people wanna express themselves, then they can let people hit "play" and stick with their thousands of images.

Honestly... -_-

Common sense would also tell you that when someone has 1,000 pictures or other junk in their profile, finding the hidden little music player can be difficult.

Also, why should people have to turn their sound off preventing them from listening to their own music because you want to force your crappy music on everyone?

Again the babies start , LAZY is all you are and looking for confrontation

If you would take 1 second out of you busy lives and look at your preferances you would see you can turn off your ability to view others sigs and playlists on their profiles . And if someone has a profile you like to listen to listen to click on prefernces again and turn it back on
( YEAH THIS TAKES A LOT OF EFFORT AND IS BRAIN SURGERY )

You can make all the cases you want it doesnt change the fact you have no ground to stand on at all because of this option in our preferances , It makes you look stupid and lazy and again like someone or people who are just trying to cause fights on the froums and looking for somthing to complain about

CHED has said in the other forums where you are all complaining about his upgrades with the Stockmarket IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT BUY IT ( real hard huh )

SAME GOES here if you dont like listening to someones music turn off ur ability to view profiles , IT SAYS RIGHT BY IT THIS WILL INCREASE LOAD TIMES .

The truth is no matter what Ched does you will never be happy

He could give everyone 10 years of DP status and you all would come back and say we should have gotten 11 years , or more points in the dp packs

Actually most of us like what Ched has done regarding the autoplay And seems that you are the one looking for confrontation here.

By KevinC [284451]If you would take 1 second out of you busy lives and look at your preferances you would see you can turn off your ability to view others sigs and playlists on their profiles . this was addressed in other posts...it would not work for some people....oh i forgot:O YEAH THIS TAKES A LOT OF EFFORT AND IS BRAIN SURGERY to read a few posts up. and to just use a playlist without autoplay.

By KevinC [284451]You can make all the cases you want it doesnt change the fact you have no ground to stand on at all because of this option in our preferances , It makes you look stupid and lazy and again like someone or people who are just trying to cause fights on the froums and looking for somthing to complain about
lazy?? Too lazy to simply remove an autoplay feature and then click play when you wish to listen to your music? This is an old argument also. This suggestion you made has been made before and is not a viable one

By KevinC [284451]
CHED has said in the other forums where you are all complaining about his upgrades with the Stockmarket IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT BUY IT ( real hard huh )
We do like the change

By KevinC [284451]SAME GOES here if you dont like listening to someones music turn off ur ability to view profiles , IT SAYS RIGHT BY IT THIS WILL INCREASE LOAD TIMES .
Load times is one very small part of this argument.

Every change will have some people complaining...no one can expect to make 100% of the people happy...but once again, it is not the anti-autoplay people complaining here...so please do not try to make it so. We are happy with this change

omg ya know what im gonna start complaining now im gonna join the lazy crowd Since turning off the auto play because of bandwidth is a HUGE problem Then everyone should be made take the loads of pictures off their profiles that take forever to load , not only that the sigs on peoples posts should be taken off they cause the forum page to take longer to load .

Yep the loads of pictures in profiles should be taken off they cause slow load time using to much bandwidth

What is the big deal about having music playing in your profile???

I understand the directive to remove the players. But what's the reason behind it? An explanation would be nice, instead of just telling us to remove something that has been a part of profiles practically from day 1.

this is the reason yanksfan -

A. Some say it uses to much bandwidth
B Some are saying they dont like clicking on someones profiles and the music is to loud

C. Ched gave us an option in our preferances to turn viewing other profiles OFF ,,, BUT That is not good enough Because people have players in other profiles they like to listen to , Because they cant be botherd just clicking back on preferances and turning the profiles back on .

The whiners got what they wanted even though they had no ground to stand on . When Ched gave us a easy FIX with the preferances option

Still was not good enough for them , Their only excuse is they cannot be botherd using that option

yep...that's it

Just a note: Myself and many others never complained...what was allowed was allowed and although i personally found the autoplay very annoying and sometimes frustrating trying to find that tab that was plying music) ... a lot of us put up with it because it was allowed.

Now it is not and maybe some people should take a lesson from the ones that did "grin and bare it"

it is not hard to remove autoplay and then click play on the playlist when you want to hear your music.

I understand the directive to remove the players. But what's the reason behind it? An explanation would be nice, instead of just telling us to remove something that has been a part of profiles practically from day 1.

You can keep the music, just turn off the autoplaying of said music. And the reason behind it is the vast majority of TC players would like to view profiles (and this is where KevinC's retarded arguement about turning profiles off completely crashes and burns) and the wealth of information one can glean from those profiles without having sudden blares of music.

The majority of us dislike sudden, automatic, blares of music for many reasons, and I will list a few of the most common ones:

1) Many time people are playing late at night or around others who may be asleep. A sudden, unexpected noise of music can be disturbing and startling not only to the player, but to those around him. There have been many occasions where my wife will be on TC while I'm watching a film nearby, and random musics starting up occasionally is very annoying.

2) Most people's "taste" of music are horrible and not something that should be subjected to complete strangers. Just as you wouldn't point the speaker out the window of your house forcing passersby to listen to your crappy music, the same should hold true for your house on TC. It's just as obnoxious as the idiots who blare music from their cars thinking they are cool, when everyone else hearing it thinks they are a huge loser.

3) Anyone who uses autoplay and is arguing against this change is an arrogant narcissist who for some reason thinks the world wants to hear the music they like. We know you're excited about certain bands that you like, but please keep in mind that other people exist and have no interest in what music you like. You can enjoy your music by yourself. It's not a medium dependent on other people. NOBODY IS INTERESTED IN WHAT A STRANGER LISTENS TO. Don't be a narcissist!

This is a great change as people should have the right to not be exposed to crappy, loud, and forced music against their will when trying to view profiles. If people are interested in your music, they can take the effort to turn it on. People shouldnt have to expend the effort turning something off that they never wanted to hear in the first place.

It's like arguing for junk mail and you telling people that they should block their mailbox so that they stop getting it.

That's not a compromise. A compromise is allowing you to keep your stupid music, but turning off autoplay, which is what Ched has done. The extremes are forcing people to turn off profiles, or forcing you to remove all your music completely. This compromise is in the middle, allowing you to keep your music player, but turning off autoplay, see?

Completely turning off and on profiles many times a day is retarded and we shouldn't have to do that just because you want to force your music on total strangers. I really don't understand this fight for autoplay. Are you really that passionate about shoving terrible music tastes down everyone's throat?

NO and its not hard to click a damn button and turn veiwing profiles off so u dont have to listen to it , You have no argument here man you have no case that you can make Because of the option in preferances
If it was not there then id say yeah ok make it so the sound dont automaticly play but The stone cold truth is we do have the option to not have to view or listen to the music and profiles

Ched gave us the option to make everyone happy i suppose but again it still was not good enough For people like you

and you can shout out all the mumbo jumbo you want in the end the only reason you have for not wanting auto play on profiles is you cannot be botherd using the function Ched gave us , Because you are never going to be satisfied with anything he does , You want all or Nothing
