I see the discussion has gone from grown ups debating to childish bickering and the point has been lost.
For the sake of all tc citizens.... compromise is very rare when we the little people have things to say. Its just like in the real world. We are given the option to vote but it really doesn't make a difference the government will always choose to do what they want. Hence Gordon Brown being the PM or Bush being the president.
We can speak but no one is actually listening either way. What's done is done end of discussion. :-(

And yes we were having a very good discussion earlier Sweeney.. I wish I could try to make everyone understand my position on the autoplay, but I see that this is something that will happen at the expense of other people's happiness.. What matters most is the people that wants it off, not the people that wants it to remain.. It's a pity that we can't compromise..

You're never going to please everyone with any decision. However in this case the vast majority of people were satisfied whilst only a small minority were annoyed, so it's as close to an objectively right decision as you're going to get. And it's not like it's a matter of basic human rights either so it's hardly the ' tyranny of the majority'. Despite the stupid comparisons people have made with authoritarian regimes, it's hardly fundamental to your needs to be able to force people to endure the sort of music you happen to enjoy for whatever reason.
By the way, if a leader makes a decision and some people are pleased by it, it doesn't entail they're kissing ass, any more than a person who supports a political party which serves their class interest is kissing the party's ass.

Well, TCB did one which revealed an overwhelming majority in favour of banning autoplay.

ffs I typed to long and auto logged out.hmmmmm is that like auotplay, and should be banned as well.... My previous article was much more insightful but alas I shant go through it once again as there would be no justice done to it the second time around.
But one has to wonder what the will of "THE FEW" will want for us voices of the many that,for like most times will fall on deaf ears.:@

If you call repeating yourself a "position", then by all means yes, you are stating your position.
But the fact remains that the autoplay does not resolve ONE key issue that NO ONE who is for autoplay properly addresses:
LOW-BANDWIDTH connections!
(warning: intelligent-speak follows)
When a person has a flash player in their profile, and it's set to autoplay, a connection is AUTOMATICALLY made to the server to retrieve the work of music selected. This is NOT something that can be TURNED OFF by "pausing" or "muting". The player MUST do this as a basic function. For those of us with low-bandwidth connections, we just watched our browsers get 'jacked by your music. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!
Conversely...
When a flash player loads and is NOT set to autoplay, no connection is made back to the server to load the music UNTIL SUCH TIME as someone hits the "Play" button. This gives us, the low-bandwidth users, the opportunity to actually admire or be disgusted by the images that we MAY want to see, or other things that we may be surfing concurrently.
I have YET to hear someone FOR autoplay who presents a solution that resolves the issue as far as us low-bandwidth people are concerned. Given that this is not an option (as stated above), I fail to see how those who continue to be FOR autoplay are anything more than selfish inconsiderate individuals who are only concerned with "Me Me Me" than other people.

It's somewhere in this forum.. if u had taken the time to read all of the post in here, then maybe u would have found a good reason for the "whys" instead of putting the pressure on me as if I have chosen a side. I choose freedom of speech.. I choose freedom of expression. I choose a fair compromise that can please each side. That is it. I haven't said, "autoplay needs to stay!" I have only said, how about we think of a compromise so both sides can be happy. If u look at my profile, u will see that the autoplay on my music player is off. I mentioned compromise for those that would truly be upset about having to do that. A good portion of us donates to the site, and it would only be right if someone look into getting this site in a place where both parties will be happy instead of having such strong disagreements about it. I don't have to by any means prove anything to u, for I am grown, and u are not my superior where I have to explain every detail to u as if it hasn't been expressed previously.. So please, once again, refer to my previous post if u really want to know where I stand on the issue.

Mel, I saw that point, but it's a point that's been "asked and answered", as the lawyer's objection goes. Continued reiteration of a point that HAS no compromise is just beating a dead horse.
Like I said, no one FOR the autoplay feature mentions any other reason for wanting it other than a selfish one, nor do they offer a solution for those of us with slow 'Net other than "don't click on me". Considering that the game requires us to click on people's profile for multiple reasons (friends/enemies list, attacking), using the "autoplay" feature becomes a shield, which is clearly an unfair advantage in gameplay.

Catch-22, I don't think that games should be allowed in profs, for the same reason. However, usually games are usually smaller than music files are (KBs instead of MBs) and so I don't think they'll be banned anytime soon. As far as pictures go, part of the staff's requiring images to be a particular size also helps their download to be quicker.

Well, now that scripting is re-allowed back in the game (to a degree), I guess that you're not REQUIRED to click on someone's prof anymore. Then again, there are those of us "old-fashioned" types who still use the "Search" feature, but go figure.....

Josh, I recognize that and that is why I said that I'm not gonna continue to repeat myself. In no way did I form the statement "I" or "me" in my comments.. I said compromise as in we as a group. But ur not talking about that with me, are you? What u need to do is direct ur comment to those that are saying "I" and "me" cause I'm not one of those people. All I'm about is trying to see if everyone's gaming experience can be met instead of hanging on one side.

Mel, I understand what you're saying, but you're looking for what philosophers call the "grey principle": if one side says white, the other says black, then we automatcially look for the grey in the middle, b/c that's got to be the right answer.
I've heard the arguments from "For" and "Against", and I fail to see how there can be a compromise in the middle. Granted, I'm a little biased because I have a slow 'Net connection, but looking objectively, knowing what I know about the technical aspects as well as logistics, I fail to see a logical argument "For" autoplay. Compounding this is the fact that all the "for" people come across rather inconsiderately of other people, they can't think objectively (being so wrapped up in their own opinion), and therefore ARE selfish, by any reasonable definition.

I see Jedi-Josh has already answered for me. You're clinging to an argument that has already been conclusively shot down, hence why we are still waiting for a good reason for autoplay.
And as I have said before, the coding option, the compromise as you put it, is either really difficult to achieve or is actually impossible.
Even if you could accomplish it, forcing a chance into the flash apps would almost certainly invalidate their terms of use.
