Eh, I think everything should be copylefted. Basically, you can use stuff, as long as you give credit where it is due, and never use it to profit. Only the creator who has the copylefting on the work can use it to profit.
Captain Obvious, Obviously! (Who did you expect, Admiral Ambiguous?)
Chedburn, perhaps Hobo-Wars should sue you.
If I remember reading one of your past posts you said something along the lines of:
"We came up for the idea of Torn City from an old game we used to play. We saw a bunch of flaws in it so myself and Quacks attempted to make a game without all of the problems that it had."
It sounds to me like you were using someone elses concept... hmm...
Also, everyone knows this game to be Hobo-Wars.
Did they attempt to shut you down for "Copyright Infringement"?
No, you can't steal an idea.

We have managed to successfully shut down our first copycat website that went against our copyright. We are also considering reclaiming costs and damages. They had taken many of our designs and ideas, in some cases even images and HTML code. This is a warning to all TC copycats, and webmasters that use the popular âmccodesâ which goes against our copyright conditions⦠We are watching you.

It is alright to sue another website if they are stealing content, E.G. pictures etc. Though if you are just suing other websites with similar concepts to yours, you are being anti competitive. MC-Codes is a script that anyone can purchase, and it is bound to be like TC. You can sue a website for breach of copyright if they physically copy your code, though it is just wrong to sue a website with the same feature coded in a different way. I also find this topic to be a little contradictory, as TC is not exactly squeaky clean. E.G. TC Radio, who would believe that you have the written consent of Sony BMG as well as other recording labels to play the songs that you do?
Would you also mind mentioning this so called copycat, or are you perhaps worried about what people may find?
well first of all I would love to see proof that you have a real copyright on this site. Just because you put "copyrighted blahblahblah" Does not make it. You have to get a PoC from a registered copyright site. At least in the US. Secondly a good bit of the idea's you get from TC are from within the TC community. So if one of those members who has simular things on his/her site was a member of this community. Technically he helped the idea and can do whatever he wants with it. Secondly you can't copyright HTML at all whatsoever. Also if you were to sue for use of "concepts and ideas" I would love to get some of that money considering once again, this community works very hard in order to give ideas and support this site. Yuri is correct the US is VERY strict against fake copyright claims I would personally like to see you try that here. I had no respect for the RIAA when they pulled their dumb stuff, and I certainly don't have any respect for you. I all ways thought you were all right, you struggle to run this game, and sometimes you struggle to be honest. But I've never held it against you because I appreciate your tireless effots to make this site better. I now see you in a whole new light, and I don't like it one bit.
Just my humble opinion for the penny it's worth.
