I feel sort of sorry for those peaceful factions that spent money on merits and didnt acheive a high enough respect total to do faction upgrades

Those that think factions that want to stay peaceful should just buy company's are right. Lets all buy company's so there simply wont be any factions left!

Don't think that'll work
Peaceful factions will just use the feature to retain peaceful status for as long as possible before they move on to a new faction. They won't waste money they have on more respect as it'll be better spent on the new faction.
However much I hate the attitude of those who just want peaceful status to go so they can get to bully the weak factions, they do have a point, the faction system is set up for warring and rather than tinkering with factions they should be coming up with a viable alternative to factions for those of us with no interest in warring. Companies are not the answer.

Crayfish I forget you wouldnt have a life if it wasnt for trying to be a keyboard warrior and stir shit in forums. Factions were created to fight the fact that people have become whiny pussies and bitched enough and ched relized that he could make RL cash selling donater packs for people cycling factions instead of HOF factions being able to extort is the only truth here. Trying to use RL comparisons on TC policy is pointless as the world doesnt revolved around Chedburn IRL

Factions weren't a par tof the game at the start, the game evolved, don't close your mind to further evolution.

As long as you have at least 250 respect after each extension, it appears that it is without limit.
Start with 250 respect and get 1 extension and then you have to earn another 125 respect before you can do it again.

staff page over the next hour. *** I was told that was not a timeline for it but when it would be added. *** But I still think it is gone 
5 hours ago guys.... take a hint. I was sleeping so do not have that option. Not that it matters... will buy a new one in due time. Looked at buying BH or VV but they both want 600 mil... so yeah I will stick to 3 mil factions and keep on moving.

As long as the time extension option is available, I intend using it.
I figure I can get 6 months of peace and plenty of money to buy a 15 man faction every time we run out of respect.

while I cant say that I am dissapointed I was hoping for an update that will insure strong factions cant attack weak ones. That is the only way lower level players will ever see the steafast etc, that high level players don't need or deserve...

Actually giving Steadfast to aggressive factions is unfair, its not like its possible for players at my level to ever get that upgrade.
