All this moaning and groaning (censored for the younger players) it quite annoying.There is not a thing you can do about it and frankly I think staff is doing there best to make everyone happy.Its about time someone figures out peaceful never was going to work in the first place.I cant wait to get back to wars! So stop all your complaining and deal with it!

Peace was only not going to work for the newb bashing HOF that don't like to war with someone that might put them in the hospital, for the rest of us( 800+ peaceful factions) it was working just fine. Cant wait to get back to wars? well y wait, there are plenty of factions to war with now, oh wait.....those guys that are agressive now can kick your butt, so yeah, wait on the weaker ones that even you can handle.

The Internet was in fact invented in 1973 by Vinton Gray Cerf. Who was (i think he still is) Vice-President and Chief Internet Evangelist for Google.

Thank you because darn I sure remember in 1980 being on the internet. Granted it was nothing like it is today not even close. But none the less through college ---- (yes the word I spell wrong) I learned how to program. And no I can't program made it though my first year and mom ended up with Cancer.
Seems weird that Yue thinks 89 wasn’t AOL founded in the early 80’s? I think even the movie War Games which was about computer hacking was in the early 80's.
The game I created was MUD in origin and named Animal House after the movie which I think was in 1979 I could be off 10 years on that as well LOL.
Still does not change that what is done in this game with peaceful factions is just wrong.

Invention of the Internet
Many people think that the Internet is a recent innovation, when in fact the fundamental ideas behind the Internet have been around for over a quarter century.
The development of what we now call the Internet started in 1957 when the Soviet Union launched Sputnik 1, the first satellite, beating the United States into space. The powers behind the American military at the time became highly alarmed as this meant that the USSR could theoretically launch bombs into space, and then drop them anywhere on earth. In 1958 the concerns of people in the US military triggered the creation of the Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
DARPA's initial role was to jump start American research in technology, find safeguards against a space-based missile attack and to reclaim the technological lead from the USSR. After only 18 months after the creation of DARPA, the Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency had developed and deployed the first US satellite. DARPA went on to have a direct contribution to the development of the Internet by appointing Joseph Licklider to head the new Information Processing Techniques Office (IPTO).
It was the job of the IPTO to further the work previously done my members of the "SAGE" (Semi-Automatic Ground Environment) program and develop technologies to protect the US against a space-based nuclear attack.
Licklider envisaged the potential benefits of a countrywide communications network, influencing his successors to implement his vision and to hire Lawrence Roberts who at that time was carrying out research with networks which was also being funded by DARPA.
Roberts led development of the ARPANet network architecture, and based it on the new idea of packet switching. A special computer called an Interface Message Processor was developed to realise the design. The ARPANet first went live in October 1969, with communications between the University of California in Los Angeles and the Stanford Research Institute.
The first networking protocol used on the ARPANet was the Network Control Program. In 1983, it was replaced with the TCP/IP protocol, which is still the standard used today.
In 1990, the National Science Foundation took over management of what was then called the NSFNet, and significantly expanded its reach by connecting it to the CSNET in Universities throughout North America, and later to the EUnet throughout research facilities in Europe.
Thanks in large part to the NSF's free-thinking management, and the growing popularity of the web, the nature of the Internet changed quickly in 1992, when the U.S. government began pulling out of network management and commercial entities offered Internet access to the general public for the first time. This change marked the beginning of the Internet's astonishing expansion. According to a survey conducted by CommerceNet and Nielsen Media Research in 1997, the number of users worldwide was believed to be well into the tens of millions. The so called Internet explosion coincided with the advent of increasingly powerful yet reasonably priced personal computers with easy-to-use GUI's (Graphical User Interfaces). The result was an attraction of recent computer converts to the Internet, and new multimedia capabilities, the size, scope and design of which allows users to:
connect easily through ordinary personal computers
exchange electronic mail with friends and colleagues
post and update frequently, information for others to access
access multimedia information that includes sound, photographic images and video
access diverse attitudes and perspectives from around the world
to directly and transparently communicate between computers
Today, the Internet is not owned or funded by any one institution, organisation, or government, it is a self-sustaining widespread information infrastructure accessible to hundreds of millions of people world-wide. The Internet is, however, directed by the Internet Society (ISOC), which is composed of volunteers. ISOC appoints the IAB (Internet Architecture Board) sub-council, the appointed members of which decide on standards, network resources, and network addresses. The day-to-day issues of Internet operation is taken care by of curtsy of a volunteer group called the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force).
In brief a small number of governing boards work to establish common standards, few rules or single organisation bind the Internet, essentially the Internet is in the most part an ungoverned global network of networks.
Here is more input from others:
The Internet was invented by the US Department of Defence as a means of communication if we were attacked by Russia. That was in 1969. The WWW on the other hand was invented by an Englishman called Tim Berners-Lee in Switzerland in 1989. The Internet dates back to the 1950s and 60s, although few of us knew of it then as it was part of the American defence system.

I think it's the difference between pop culture and invention that confuses people. The origins of the Internet stretch back to the 1950s and the invention of the World Wide Web to 1989, but the Internet IS a newish innovation as far as pop culture is concerned as it only really kicked into the lives of the vast majority of us after the 1989 invention of WWW.
DARPA was created in 1958. But this only started the research that led to create the Internet. The Network Control Protocol (NCP) was finalized and deployed in December 1970 by the Network Working Group (NWG), led by Steve Crocker. But it was not until RFC 768 "User Datagram Protocol", RFC 791 "Internet Protocol", RFC 792 "Internet Control Message Protocol, RFC 793 "Transmission Control Protocol" were ratified in 1980 and 1981 that the Internet took shape. Modern protocols like e-mail, ftp, telnet, http ... all depend on these underlying protocols. The ARPANET host protocol was switched from NCP to TCP/IP as of January 1, 1983. The underlying protocols that run the Internet have fundamentally changed since this date. This seems fair to me. If you want to stay peaceful and have no need for respect, you can half your respect indefinitely for years...
See no reason why the whining other than that you can't sit in peaceful and slowly gather upgrades...
Makes sense to me, if you want to build past 90 days, you have to go to war.
Best of all, it costs 0 cash, so I think this update was well thought out.
300 in half 150 in half 75 in half 37 in half etc, etc... ending in many months of peaceful before you reach 0.... And assuming no OC's...

See no reason why a group of folks cant half 300 each month 150 and regain 100 respect through OC in that time...
Then 125 each month after...
there are 744 hours in one month and it is possible to Money train 125 respect in 720 hours.
It is shaving things very very close agreeably, but it is possible.

If this was the way it worked it would be fine, but its the fact you need 250 respect to buy the 31 days to begin with, in your example you could only buy 1 more month.

He should definatly remove the 5% faction training bonus. It's only widening the void, seeing as no other player will ever get high enough stats to use it, and the same 10 nerds will use it to get even further ahead.
Think about it Ched. 100s of thousand of players were finally having fun with their friends with peace. A couple hundred wine and that justifies killing this game? You even try to coerce us with these retarted faction bonuses but we are not stupid. Why would we accept a little extra power att the gym to get raped all day. While on the other hand, a few players who started first get free extra stats and can't be beat (In the game) so they pick on everyone else.
Remember, we may be "weaker" according to in-game stats, but our resulting lower chain in status does not make us dumber (Although that is the impression). Most of us, in fact, are a whole lot smarter. When we get done sucking up (the first stage in noobishness) we have to use our higher IQs to catch up. It doesn't take long to realize that as an impossibility, but playing with our friends can still be fun. And of course we still have the false hope of attaining an equal status with the 10 nerds who have no life outside of tc; but you have to take that away by giving them faction bonuses. Then you take away our ability to play with our friends.

I chose to stay peaceful and I still get no peace. Everyone loves to saw off Leatherfaces head. Actually, I enjoy it too. Pretty crazy how serious people will take this torn city life. Look. Kill or be killed. Peace or war. Shack or Island. Oil the saw or kill with it dry. It makes no difference - you love this game.
There is ALWAYS something you can do.....don't go away mad, just go away. My stats suck. My house needs more bodyguards. My wife is a prick. I just got owned by a level 7. Life is good cause' I can still saw my own head off. You may be pissed but you are still here. Ask yourself. Do you stay because of Leatherface?

Nice idea but....I have a huge problem with this logic. Take a look at my faction. It's whole purpose is to train n00bs. Money trains? Not even in my dreams. Best I can do i bomb threats. Other than myself, all my members are under level 15 and it will stay that way. As I said before, I will keep extending my peaceful status as long as I can, giving my players the longest time possible to train in peace. When I fall short of respect to extend peace anymore, I will hit the delete button and move on. I now have 101 days to come up with 111 respect points.....

My earlier post (other people wrote this as well):
A minimum amount of respect required to have to be able to get additional 31 days of peace is 250. It takes 50% of your respect to get that status, so you will have 125 respect left and 31 days to gain that same amount to be able to get another 31 days later.
Goal:
125 respect in 31 days
Best possible result:
100 respect in 31 days (doing Rob a Money Train and gaining 6-10 respect per success (note: all attempts must be successful))
So eventually you will reach that point when it's impossible to get these additional 31 days, meaning that peaceful status does not really exist. The update is pretty much useless.

Sorry but I disagree.. Now a newly formed faction can remain peaceful for at least 6 months if you do enough OC's and buy peaceful status every time you hit 250 respect.. The money gained from the OC's will more than pay for a new faction every 6 months. Respect means nothing to a peaceful faction and is therefore a small price to pay for remaining peaceful..
I think that this is an excellent change.

So the theory behind peaceful status is use the time to train up and close the gap with the hofs or maybe the people between you and the hofs. That doesn't work many high lvl players gain more in 1 train most peoples whole stat. Well at least you can use peaceful status to make your faction better, build up some respect, maybe get a few of those upgrades. Wait no, you have to burn up your respect to keep peaceful status. So you have spend respect to protect against losing respect. Does that seem odd to anyone?

Now that statement, although I do not agree, is a much better way of stating your oppinion.
Maybe we can't fix the whole problem but at least we can point out errors like the faction training bonus.

Ched you need to eliminate the 250 respect to be able to get another month of peace. If you want us to have no respect that is fine. That can be the price of having a peaceful faction. You stated we will have peace then give it to us!!!!!!!!!!! If nothing else allow us to have at least a little FUN in this screwed up game.

He should definatly remove the 5% faction training bonus. It's only widening the void, seeing as no other player will ever get high enough stats to use it, and the same 10 nerds will use it to get even further ahead.
Think about it Ched. 100s of thousand of players were finally having fun with their friends with peace. A couple hundred wine and that justifies killing this game? You even try to coerce us with these retarted faction bonuses but we are not stupid. Why would we accept a little extra power att the gym to get raped all day. While on the other hand, a few players who started first get free extra stats and can't be beat (In the game) so they pick on everyone else.
Remember, we may be "weaker" according to in-game stats, but our resulting lower chain in status does not make us dumber (Although that is the impression). Most of us, in fact, are a whole lot smarter. When we get done sucking up (the first stage in noobishness) we have to use our higher IQs to catch up. It doesn't take long to realize that as an impossibility, but playing with our friends can still be fun. And of course we still have the false hope of attaining an equal status with the 10 nerds who have no life outside of tc; but you have to take that away by giving them faction bonuses. Then you take away our ability to play with our friends.

Seriously people this is a warring game. If you dont want to go to war buy a company. A faction is meant to be for war between other factions to see who is the best. If you dont like it create your own online game where all factions are peaceful and everyone picks daisies. Its about time something was done to thwart the peaceful status. Respect for peace is a perfect trade. As i recall all great factions started out with nothing and all great players started as noobs. Everyone will get their time. Just dont expect it over night. Enough said.
