Last thread deleted as way too much flaming and silliness... I seriously don't wish to ban everyone.
Newly created factions will remain peaceful for a 3 month period - 91 days.
Declaring on other factions within this period will remove the peaceful status.
Factions will no longer be able to earn peaceful status.

I happen to lead the faction HK is in and I have an opposing view... however I do belive in the equality of free will and free speech and I have encouraged all my members to raise their points of view...
It is HK's choice whether to join a warring faction or not, and unlike some on TC I am not judgemental to boot someone or bar them from being part of a faction just because of their "cyber" political views.
If admins on this game instead encouraged people to speak up with their opinions without damnation such as allowing for differing individual views that are actually listened to we may all start to get somewhere.
Though I must admit I do not tolerate the attitude of people telling others to shut up...
Nor do I condone forum banning for having articulated an opinion so long as that opinion is presented in a non aggressive manner...

dont join a faction if you cannot handle the competition. This game is about being victorious, and if it means having to eliminate some factions to be victorious Im all for it.

its not about whether or not we can handle the competition.. its about choices.. plus the fact that all of us where caught with our pants down about the 90 day limit.
most of us were in good factions before this peaceful faction updated.. upgraded.. with respect.. and all that.. we had to move ourselves out of that faction and create new ones in the hopes that being in peaceful factions.. we would be safe from harassment..
a point for you that TC is all about warring.. then Ched should not have even introduced PEACEFUL factions. guess what? he did.. and now here we are..

First of all let me say I pretty much agree with the vast majority of these posts regarding Cheds decision. I do feel his reversal on the peaceful faction option was poorly handled and misleading in such a way as to alienate a large portion of the TC customer base. Seeing as there is little I can add on the injustice of it and little I could say that hasn't already been said, I would like to take this opportunity to instead offer up what I feel are two constructive solutions that I feel would resolve these issues in the future.
1 - Add forums and OC equivalent group activites (such as white collar crimes like tax fraud, embezzlement etc.) To companies.
One of the things Ched said was that if you are more interested in th social aspect of factions then "Thats what companies are for". Well good point, my first suggestion then is to make companies more social so that they are actually a viable alternative to factions in regards to social netwroking and group activities.
At the moment, companies are not terribly good at being social because they lack a forum or any sort of shared "sign up" activity like factions do. These features could really help because then the 796 people who want a faction that is basically social and group activity oriented could have such a thing and at the same time Factions get to keep warring away.
The issue as I see it is simple, why alienate a group of people that want a service and are unwilling or not interested in faction wars? This way both the warmongers and the social profiteers both get what they want.
2 - Stat/Level CAPS
This may not be received well but I feel it should be put forth. Frankly my argument is simple. WoW (Worlds of Warcraft) does this and it has worked well. At this point, it is apparent that the reason no one wants to compete is because they are very unlikely to ever catch their competition before they are destroyed. The way things work in this game at the moment, stat gains are exponential. As your level and property increase, the amount of stats you can gain grows immensly. This means not only do the strong get stronger, but they get stronger far faster then the younger players even if they do donate.
If peoples stats were capped then anyone could eventually reach the level where they are able to compete with other veteren players which means over time more and more people would start to have factions and compete.
For those players that feel like without any goals or stat gains they would quit or not be motivated, I would add that this has not happend in WoW which is one of the best MMORPGS in the world at the moment. People hit level 70 and their focus shifts to gear and other things. So why not do the same in TC? Offer special gear and upgrades to senior players that give them a slight edge as a reward for playing so long. If the game remains entertaining and good then players will stay for that reason alone. Not to mention more and more players would become able to compete which means that should keep players motivated at every level.
The bottom line is this, if you want more factions willing to war with each other, then you need to give them a level playing field they can earn/aspire to that is achievable.
That way competition can shift from simply outpacing younger players in terms of stat gains and money, to strategy, organized planning, and activity in the game.
This has been my constructive feed back on the matter. I won't be checking back to read replies because I don't really value arguing on the internet very much to be honest. I barely read the forums but this issue was a big one so I felt compelled to do so.
If you like my ideas, please quote this post in your post so that perhaps someone will notice and maybe even act on them.

As for reply to this topic, those are some very good options given, and a very well executed noobie faction mass creation for the larger factions to exploit, nice.
How about giving others the option (like the player lvl cap mentioned) of being able to participate rather than just being fodder for older players.
Bad change. I said that before when u wiped the servers and I lost all my dp's and points.
don't seem ta matter tho.. u just do wat you want.

some people dont seem to realise that if you want a faction but you dont wanna be wared then dont have a faction, fact if you cant deal with wars then you dont deserve to run or be in a faction. |
no dude... i am no wimp... i imagine some all these players that are bitching, aren't either... personally, i just don't like using irc/msn (any kind of chat service in general) in order to coord attacks that are mandatory in chaining factions... i like being able to log in once every 4-8 hrs, do my stuff for 5-10 minutes and keep on w/ my life...
btw, if there are no factions to extort money/xanax from, what u guys gonna do?
so unless u r ready to deal with an empty war base (eventually it will get there) i suggest for u, and the rest of ur kind, to be less cocky....

This has been a scam all along..
There is so much corruption withing the staff nowadays...
Where every staff has an opinion and a vote... Ched allways listens to what they have to say and in conclusion rule the world of TC just liek the real life governments.
However It is pretty interesting to have Politicians or people up int he government also beeing one of the best MOb bosses in the world..
I will tell you from my experince that all columbians cartels who ever wanted to go into politics have brought themselves to a sudeen end...
MY point is: torn city Staff should not be allowed to participate in any faction activities. That way they can use their time to find all that is wrong and stop bitching about never having time to answer mails or reports.
This I believe is not Chedburn's Fault BUt the staff that advises him. If you want more people to join Chedburn, You must think of their future, I personally would never join a game where I stand no chance to ever get somewhere. And the faction wars just make ti impossible for a nob to get anywhere.
There are criminal factions, like yakuzas who would have the power to get in war but there are also small gangs who would only care to steal some money and slowly get a name for themselves...
Maybe this idea is good, But if that be the case perhaps 1 year would be the amount of time needed to prepare a faction, not 90 days...
The best thing and most safe way where violenbce frustration could be avoided would be maybe a NPC wart base where at least everyone could declare war upon and attack them on an infinite matter that way The HOF factions could eat all the respect they want and the smaller ones survive.
But that Is maybe yet just another one oppinion that may never even be into consideration.

Why was this rescind not announced in the newspaper. I have just wasted my money creating a faction. I was hoping to invite lower levels to join. Now there is little point as they will get attacked and I can't protect everyone. Thanks for making me waste nearly $2m!
It makes no sense as all the low levels will disband their factions and so the higher levels will have to fight each other. Does this mean it will be back to square one?
