uh no chedburn, servers should not "just crash". Either it was a software or hardware problem, you need to figure out which, or it will just happen again.
No, they do just crash. The average life of a hard working server is only around 3 years. It's common sense and a fact of life.
hardware failures can definately happen after 3 yrs. none of my servers have ever crashed due to age but ive had a bud that did. it is totally viable after 3 yrs of grunting to get some failures on the drive in particular.
They do NOT happen often full stop, as other people have said if you can make me a server that will never crash i'd give you my leg. Not to cause anything big but, HT and so on can't you just do it again if your that determined, I mean it's all in the name of fun right?

Servers always crash every now and then. It's not a fixable issue, they just do, in general. If your home computer did as much work as the TC servers did, they would crash too, probably twice as much. Luckily this is the first crash we have had in a long time.
don't let these ppl get you down... i think you are doing an awsome job. ya things happen that are out of your control but atleast you keep as much info as possible at all times, great job keep it up...

Some of the comments i have read show hugh lack of respect for the staff of torncity now i am only 1 day old and know very little about the game but what i do know is that problems happen every games gets downtime now and again and its expected chedburn and other members of staff wored quickly to solve the problem and to get us back on as soon as possible so what you lost 10 or 20 mins of gaming time you have to be really stuck up to find any negatives...

you are a multi...or you just really don't know that around this time last year TC was down for a month, we all lost a bunch of stuff...at that time ched promised us that it would never happen again but he makes the same mistakes over and over and its bound to happen again. I'd be royally pissed if I was in HT or DA or RaoV imagine in the real world if you lost 60 hours of 100 peoples work...cause thats what ched did and does on a regular basis. Some of us have built characters for 2 years + and have donated more than our fair share to expect reliable servers and coding. but what we do know is that because you are sucking up no staff will check your account for multies.
