Going back on this new update is ridicolous. Factions at the moment are completely unfair for weaker players, we are losing money and our factions and we can't do anything about it. Some people might say that if you aren't strong enough to run your own faction then don't buy one, well, that is stupid, factions are one of the best things about this game, they are fun to be in, you can get money from them, and it is generally quite fun, so why deny the weaker players the oppurtunity to run their own faction?
I believe that these new updates are ok, I was thrilled when I logged on and say that there were faction warring updates, then I saw what they were, I was happy, then when I logged on and saw the second announcement I thought that there would have been even more done to help the weaker factions.
The HoF moan because they can't get respect and money as easily as before, does it really matter that much, they still get to be in a top faction, not having to worry about running out of money and not being able to pay surrender fees. They make a big fuss because they will have to work a bit harder to get the respect and money they want. We the lowly factions who have to pay (in my case) most our money to buy a faction and then huge portions of it paying ridiculous surrender fees to all different factions. The HoF don't need to worry bout much, I reckon they are just greedy and lazy, more should be done to make it harder for them and easier for us.
I don't want to wait months maybe years before I am actually strong and rich enough to run my own faction, I want to be able to run one now, and not have to worry bout losing all my money.
Make more updates to help the weaker factions, the factions that actually need it.

Nicely said. New/(low level) players also have the right to own/(be in) a faction. I myself would like to create a faction but I don't because I know that if I do, the faction will get destroyed by some high level players or I will be asked to pay a huge surrender fee that I simply wouldn't be able to pay. I can not join any faction either because when I'm applying to a better one they say I'd only make 'em lose respect because of getting hosped all the time.
So, please, HOF people, could you give me any suggestions? What is worse: getting less respect while already being in HOF or having no chance in owning/(being in) a faction at all (not to mention gaining some respect because you will lose it faster than you start gaining it)?
Stop being ignorant and let some new players play the game too.
First of all, nice one Ched, for having things properly tested before implementation. Nice to know things are being processed the right way.
As for what ppl have been saying:
@~~KN~~ broken-sword: well, a faction with just you in it can't even be considered a faction, can it? Some games even delete factions/clans if they have less than 3 players for more than a given number of days...
@jobdodger: I don't think it is just HoF pressure...it's just something that would turn around years of gameplay, which would enable a small group of high-stat players to build a small faction and hit badly at a big faction, with small chance for the big one to fight back - even if with weaker players.
Think of this: 20 newbs build a faction and chain like mad, to get some cool respect. At a certain point, they are at the mercy of bigger - stronger factions, and without the possibility to chain on their lvl...Gonna put a prize on not-chaining? On factions that live to be banks and OC planners?
Maybe the starting respect should be bigger (lots of ppl suggested 1000)...
Maybe factions with respect 1-1000 should get their gains multiplied by 5 (if you take 1 respect, you gain 5), which would make their chains more efficient in keeping the faction alive, while making them have to chain to stay alive (respect is gained by fighting, not standing around).
Maybe OC's should get more respect, and probably there should be a re-coding of these, with new additions (which give more cash/respect).
If low-respect factions get these advantages I posted, then whining about not being able to maintain a faction will just be for those who don't care enough about their faction to fight a little for it
i'm curious to know the cross section of assessors in this determination of better/worse, smooth etc.
since when have you been in a small faction that got the hell beat out of it on a daily basis and payed 100 x more than you have to stop it until someone else came along?
i'd like to think this will improve the game but i know the same fools that did the previos updates are doing these ones, and the captain is still at the helm.
well there should also make a change so that the higher respect leveled factions can't declare on us with factions of 15000 or less if they have 45k-100k respect just so those of us that wanna try a faction out with a few buddies we can without haveing to worry about some faction like HOF or PT coming down and reaming us a new hole to poo from
