In light of the recent addition of Trade which makes transfering of items from one person to another totally scam proof, we have revamped our outdated scamming policy.

The Trade option can be found in your Items list just under your equipped weapons.

If you choose to trade with any player outside of the trade function and you get scammed because of it, under no circumstances will staff get involved. You will not get anything returned to you and the person that does this will NOT be punished. This covers all items that can be physically traded. (basically anything that can be bought from Auction or Item Markets).

This does not mean that scamming is legal. This means if you make the choice not to use the trade feature, you do so at your own risk.

Anything that is not tradable via Auction or Item Markets or by the Trade Feature are still covered under scamming and action will be taken against perpetrators by staff. This includes: Companies, Faction item purchases (merits, drugs, medical supplies, points, weapons etc.), Faction Buying & Selling...

Scamming involving faction/company: Mails proving you had an agreement to sell or buy a faction or company for a certain price. If your faction or company has been lost due to this we will either put you back into the faction/company or credit your account the value of the faction/company. If the company or faction has been destroyed we will then credit the value of it along with what it contained back to you, or assist in rebuilding the faction or company to the point it was upon being destroyed.

If there is no proof there was an agreement, we cannot fix whatever the issue may be. There MUST be mails between the two parties agreeing on whatever the trade may be. This allows us to see there was an agreement in place between both users and what the terms were.

Loans: When you loan a player money, you are loaning at your OWN risk. Staff will NOT reimburse you for loans you make in the game. Choose your friends wisely.

Failure to pay back a loan deliberately will be treated as Scamming however no money will be returned back to the player that loaned the money. (It will however be removed.) Normally a warning will be issued and you will be given 48 hours to make arrangements to repay the outstanding balance before further action is taken by staff. (in some circumstances you may be extended extra time to pay the outstanding amount).

Banking: Every player has the ability to deposit up to a maximum of 2 billion dollars in their banks, all banking outside your own bank (letting others bank for you) is at 100% own risk.
If the player does not pay back the money after the set time you can player report the player for scamming, however you WILL NOT receive any money back.
Also; money banked with other people will NOT be refunded in the case that that player goes to fed jail for whatever reason.

Russian Roulette: Russian Roulette (RR) was designed to be cash only. If you play for items you play at your own risk. You can sell the items easily and play for that cash. This will not be covered by Scamming.

Below is a preview copy of what the new rules and punishments will be for all to view (players and staff).

Scamming/ Asking for login details/ Giving Away or Selling Account(s) or trying to purchase Account(s)/ Hacking
Drawing someone into a trap to leave them to believe you will play fair, but when they fall for it completely, you run off with whatever was given to you. Attempts to scam. (Can in some circumstances recieve a warning for first time offenders). Gaining access to another players account without their approval. Hacking/ Accessing another users account. Asking for login details.
Jail Reason: Scamming or Asking for login details or Selling/ Giving away Account or Attempting to gain access to another player's account or objects owned by that player or Hacking/ Accessing another users account

First Offence: 30 day jail time (depending on severity and history)
Future Offences: Account deletion/IP Ban

Faction theft/ Theft from faction bank/armoury/ Company Theft
Taking cash/points/items in a faction without the leaders approval, gaining leadership under FALSE pretenses and refusing to return control of the faction to the rightful leader etc. Gaining a company under false pretenses or refusing to change director back to rightful owner etc.
Jail Reason: Faction Theft/Theft from Faction.

First Offence: 30 day jail time (depending on severity and history)
Future Offences: Account deletion/IP Ban

Rules are subject to change and if an issue arises that is not displayed in this policy does not mean it will not be punishable.

And a quick thankyou goes out to all those who helped me finalise this.

Edit: Lowered ammount on Banking cap (I was unaware that it had been lowered)... Thanks to the player that pointed this out to me in a mail.

Pretty clear.
But i still think scammers should be fedded whenever they scam.
Some people/multies will try even harder now to get outside deals outside the trade-option, most likely by picking on pretty new players who dont know enough yet, and they will get away it now.

(surely new players should read around and get to know the rules all by themselves before they do stuff, but we all know that doesnt happen)

Own responsibility is good and important.
But on the other hand some protection would be good.
In the end the game wants to grow, and it surely wont help new players to stay if they get scammed and the scammers get away with it.

Brilliant.

Hopefully this should also give staff more time to deal with other matters. Whilst it's clear theres still going to be people moaning.... Heck theres always people moaning no matter what the change/update is.

Anyway, good clear update.

Nice work on this!
Maybe instead of having mails or so to have proof of someone buying a faction/company make some sort of form you can fill in. You must enter ID etc and both agree. Then it will be less work for you guys (once its done ofcourse).

Scamming/ Asking for login details/ Giving Away or Selling Account(s) or trying to purchase Account(s)/ Hacking

Weren't hacking attempts not only allowed, but encouraged by ched himself..... mind you brute force password cracking does not delineate hacking in my book.

I like the idea of doing stuff at your own risk.. but not refunding loans kinda sucks... I mean, why would tc players still help eachother out?
