...please....tell me she's joking. I refuse to believe this. I mean, really. I just finished making fun of the people who quote an explanation and call them stupid. Yet, here we are. Aerozol, you're the only person here who thinks blind people...are people too:(
"You mean..a person without legs can still be mobile?! But that's impossible! How can the wheelchair work when they don't have legs?!"
Hilarious.

sorry. i only asked because everybody i know who plays the game, also has wondered how this is gonna help. we're not all so smart as to know there a programs to help the blind. prehaps an explanation on the actual announcement might have helped. but thankes headlesschicken. although a little complex, your explanation was quite good, i had no idea!

And looking at that comment you have never known a blind person, at all ever, or you would not be saying such crap.

That's a dumb idea. That's only a small aspect of the game being played which is now accessible to the blind.

Cool job, but how will they click the number?
Or do I just not know a different way?

Hi,
First I should point out that I am the blind individual (or at least one of them?) that brought it to the staff's attention that the bot prevention mechanism was causing a problem for a very small minority. Yes, I am blind. Yes, I use the internet. I also walk, talk and feed myself. Most text based games are just that, text. Text can be intercepted and processed by a computer in a myriad of ways, including text-to-speech (important words there are text and speech). As a matter of fact, most windows computers nowadays (think or later) have a sample of this technology in the form of SAPI and the narrator program. The problem here was not with the text links you click, but the image (picture, photo, in short not text) that showed ya'll photonically dependant people what text link to click. The validator now present will say the number (which works great for those of us who can hear it). Okay, so clicking on a picture has it's drawbacks, but through labeling and the like there are work arounds for dealing with images where the actual contents of that image are available through a non-visual channel. Sorta like icons don't ya know. There are actually several solutions for making a windows based computer talk, including Jaws and Window-eyes. There are also solutions for Mac and Linux. See linux-speakup.org for my preferred linux solution. As for X-Windows on un*x see gnome-accessibility. There are several linux distros that include speakup and/or a GUI based speech solution.
So now instead of doing gym/crimes a couple times a day by having one of my kids read me the number, i'm doing it on my own. Once again, thanks for the new feature Ched!

...And this thread is exactly why I've asked for an intelligence test to be administered before allowing people Internet access. Heck, they have to have it to drive automobiles.
Aside from the whole issue that using CAPTCHAs for avoiding bots is a fruitless endeavour, I still think that this alternative is an excellent move toward accessibility. Good job, staff.
