It always amuses me this.
so no kernel security patches in the last 6 months then....

its freebsd you just update the source tree and recompile it.. no need to reboot.. its not linux where you have to redo the kernel and reboot to boot it up..
notice this is freebsd -stable version..
its updated. |
We can happily take this offline if it's boring the pants off everyone...and as a caveat,it's a whilst since I adminned freeb boxes...

c) Recompile your kernel as described in
http://www.FreeBSD.org/handbook/kernelconfig.html and reboot the system.
Now my understanding was you can do all the patching, but to actually switch the old kernel, which is running to the new kernel which is patched, you either need.
A cluster, where you can break quorum and bounce each node, keep the virtual host up and untouched..or a reboot.
If that's been changed, can you please point me at the procedure for a kernel patch that shows no reboot.
Other than that, for irc/web etc Freebsd Linux..:-)

same hyere - tried plain mirc, anaconda and via tc java. no luck whatsoever

If something is happening where the dns isn't updating properly and you are unable to connect try this:
