I log in multiple times across the day and frequently of a night when I'm either afk or am lounging around and cant be bothered cranking up the PC / laptop and for the things I do - cruise forums, browse the markets / stock market, train, do crimes, chain (I use the full site on my phone for this so I can use faction chat), fiddle around in my faction a bit, etc - it works perfectly well.
Most decent smartphones on a 3G network should be able to do most things in torn nowadays - hell I even stretch out hits during chains while I'm on the commute to work (on train / walking).
I suspect that the problems a lot of people have with phones is due to native apps (eg. the default browser on some androids / blackberry / safari) not rendering pages properly, or possibly not handling some CSS elements all that well given the screen real estate they have to work within.
I think that by and large players would be happy with a minimalist site design which keeps markup relatively straight-forward for the things they commonly use - as an example the points building links work perfectly well on a mobile without the flashy timers and image icons.
Really I think you have to set a baseline for phone compatibility - trying to please everybody by going for the lowest common denominator wrt phone / mobile network capability will just end up in a site that nobody wants to use. There would be a lot of players out there who would be getting close to the full torn experience on their mobile phone, perhaps even some that play primarily through their phone, so we don;'t want to hobble their experience too much.
I think core functionality such as the gym/crimes/forums/education/etc. should be as accessible as possible (we don't really need the whiz-bang goodies you see on the main site while on our mobiles), but from there, while other aspects can be streamlined a little, we don't want to dumb down or restrict the mobile site too much for mobile use, as players with a half-decent phone / on a half decent network can still use those things now.
yes everyday i play torn on my mobile, especially to train and to travel.I experienced a problem only once.Usually i can carry 19 items from abroad but last week i was able to buy only 9 items. as far as i remember it took me more than 200mins(rather than the usual 142mins) to travel to japan although i have a fully upgraded pi and i had travelled through my airstrip that day.
I was also waiting for the mobile handy version of torn . though its true that many are using torn on mobile like me . i do use torn at laptop and sometime on mobile too when i have connection problem with my braodband or light goes off or i am out of home .
so i think its a wise decision to provide the mobile friendly torn website fully featured
At least 4-6+ login's from my Wii as we have a shared Laptop and my Wii is my alternate device.
It always takes me to the Torn mobile site on the Wii Opera Browser.
Hmm... I would think it does the same on the Wii U Browser, but can't be sure since I don't own a Wii U yet.
I also owned a PS3, but it burned out and had never tried logging in on it.
I plan to buy a new PS3 in the next month or so and I'll post my results here if this topic is still open then.
But I do hope that you Please continue support for nonmobile devices that are limited by hardware to still access this site.
Like Wii, Wii U, PS3, Web enabled appliances like Smart DVD players and Televisions etc...
Trust me it has been truly fortunate or a godsend depending on your point of view too be able to access this site on my Wii.
My only complaint is speed and loading issues. Also some graphical glitches. Freezing etc... As i'm sure a true mobile device like an ipad or iphone has way more robust hardware and memory compared to a Wii or a web enabled smart device.
Thank you for your time and keep up the hard work.
P.S. I believe that the Xbox 360 is now also web browser enabled, but since I don't happen to own one I am unsure if it's capable to access this site. Perhaps someone who owns one could test this it out? Oh and I just now also remembered PSP, Vita, DSi and 3DS also have web browsers.
A Mobile Torn App Has Been Suggested Many Times Before.
It would be very convenient if there was one.
I use the mobile torn regularly its convenient for people who are at work etc, and not able to reach a laptop or so..
> Yes, several times per day. im all ways logging onto it using mobile so i think that you should make an mobile app thats works on all mobiles so that everyone wont have and laggy connections or that it cuts out , ill be willing to help to make one if you chose to make it, i think this would be very good for torn users are they dont have to connect to internet only there mobile internet.
my main access is from my mobile, i recieve a lot of timeout errors and due to this find certain aspects of the game impossible, ie attacking.
the majority of the game though is perfectly fine with the currently mobile site.
I find that if it is set to mobile Torn it has all the usual functions of Torn and isn't really a problem, there is just no chat facility.
Logging into full Torn, so that you do have the chat facility, does have issues in that the light boxes float about on my Andriod and iPhone device.
The only downside to logging in from the mobile, is that it is much easier to click things by accident, or if you're a bit impatient to wait for the page to load properly e.g. I have managed to wipe out my events accidently when I havent wanted to more than once which can be frustrating.
Looking for active players to join our faction. Mail me!!
I use it occasionally, but a more user friendly version would have me using it several times per day.

We'd like to gather some basic information about mobile phone usage from our users. We look forward to announcing a complete full-site redesign with the view of providing a perfect experience on mobile phones and tablets as well as computers, in the coming months.
Currently we've failed to offer a properly mobile friendly version of Torn, and while mobile apps are probably impossible, we've proved a responsive website which provides an experience much like an application is certainly viable.
So, how often do you use your mobile phone for Torn? Also, feel free to post more detailed feedback in this thread.
I'm mostly online from my phone, torn would be barely playable to me without my phone. The sidebar is my only problem with the mobile site. I really misclick often when I don't zoom in to the total limit, the standard zooom is set to really close, and even then the sidebar-buttons are hard to hit. It's mostly because they're too slim, even a little broader would help a LOT. Besides that, great work!
