dport first off the forum idea wouldn't work because someone could get some people to put their name in get a bunch of people accepted and screw them over disappear for a couple weeks or months and get back on, as for the no ideas and everyone just pissing and moaning thats not true several ideas have came out its not just 100 people saying "this sucks" or "this is ghey" yes there are a few of those and also some people that comment with out reading the previous posts. but one good option is to have the staff do their job and if someone is scammed the scammer gets reported and punished. i don't know why thats a bad option. others like rating people and putting that into the game also good but just like yours only alittle harder to fool. the idea about programming naps alliances and protection into the game while it would be helpful would be expensive and time consuming and they already said they wouldn't so... do you have any real ideas?

ROFLMAO

ok ive officially read the funniest post in this thread.

FG has a point.

Why Is not having a NAP/Protection better for players, or are you guys just.... wait.... oh yeah, lazy.... sorry, i was too busy sitting down doing nothing in my office to remember what the word was...

I wonder where you guys are???

Without taking a dig at you guys, if your supposed to be these super-dooper staff members that can solve all problems reasonably, thats awesome, i mean it. but seriously, i know of a couple of staffers that run full-time jobs, but i do know that some are either
a) In School/Uni
b) Part Time workers/Casual
c) Unemployed

Now my first point
If your at school, hell no one did homework anyway, so youve got from what 4pm-6pm then 7pm till bedtime to work on tc, and even at school during lunch.
If youve got exams coming, step the hell off staff and go study. esp helpers, its not as if you have a hard job anyway, other helpers can pick up the slack while you are gone for a month to study and do exams.
Part timers work on the same principle - dont work many hours, well guess what, you could monitor some stuff on tc

Full timers that run real jobs yeah fair call, you guys are busy and i understand that you have your shit to come first.

For all the rest of the people who Dont actually have jobs, well mebbe they should start paying you in$$$ to work on tc so you can support yourself instead of sponging off the government all day so you can play tc and sit on your ass all day (am i still allowed to say ass?).

With the large amount of players who are actually staff on this game, and the amount of work that CAN be done, mebbe yes, like it has been suggested time and time again, how about staff get credited somehow in this game, preferrably outside of this game, like 5-10 bucks USD a week, or a quota system as to how much work a staffer has completed that week in way of player reports, helper questions etc would probably be a much better idea.

Rambling again i know

but if youve got nothing to do, why not work on TC and fix stuff

so this is a forum signature eh? just looks like a text box to me

Ehh.

I dunno.

Im not gonna speak from a staffers point of view - Because the decision was made and its not my say if its changed or not.

But from a players point of view im not too keen on it. Wont bother me since im too poor to pay surrenders/protections/NAP's ect anyway..

But it does seem a little silly to say people dont have to honour these things. And i can see nearly all the HOF's chuckling and going to redeclare on anyone they have already recieved surrender fees/NAP's from.

So if I pay somebody to protect my faction and he doesn't do his end of the bargain, I should hire somebody else to beat the guy to a pulp as a lesson... But then again, he might end up scamming me too, so maybe I should buy another protection contract just in case... But then, he might be a scam artist too, so, even if it starts to hurt my pockets, I should hire another faction to beat him up to, but then........

:o Staff have decided to begin legallizing scamming? Not a good sign.

Dunno if it's been suggested above, but maybe there should be a speciallized group of staff formed, who deal specifically with this issue, if it's so numerous and hard to enforce?

This new rule opens pandora's box for scammers.. simply offer pay-first protection/NAP to a faction owner, the cash is sent, then declare war on the faction.. knowing all too well that staff are prepared to allow you to repeat this process over and over and over again.

I see no difference between this and asking another player for their username and pass. And am a little disturbed at the idea of staff holding hands with scammers..

This is a terrible idea, and I do hope staff get the nerve up to say they've stuffed up here, and make amends on the issue sooner rather than later.

*edit - grammar

There is some good staff on Tc, but sadly, TC is losing too many of em. This newest change is gonna cause a lot of noobs to leave. Once thats figured out, ohh, they might look back. But even old staff is starting to question why they are here now, so wtf, its not just us "disgruntled old staff" which ppl keep trying to label me by! I do NOT hate staff, I just hate the lack of set rules, most staff I have always gotten along w and still do, so kiss that theory goodbye

well reading all these post make my kneestremble at though of myself ever wanting to own a faction....
Simple if there factions out there that are honest and do protection and take it seriously..then it should be actions speak louder than words..draw up an agreement of protection..paid at THE END of each month,,,
Turn it round instead of upfront payments..lets see the protection earn their money before recieving it...i can see myself getting Hossy for this idea but its only fair for months, years protection factions had it upfront,so whats wrong with turning it on its head and see who really are the most honest faction out there doing protection...Those paying fees wouldnt risk not paying at end of each month coz thats why they have protection..they not strong enough without it..and non payment will no doubt en with their faction zeroed...
i know crazy idea..but thought hey why not voice it..:)

Considering a while back it was said NAP's would be held as legal and those factions breaking it would be considered as scamming. To simply turn around now and say the opposite is poor.

People would have taken out NAP's on the basis of the decision made earlier by staff. So now saying tough, they do not hold is unfair on them.

Surely if you want to implement this, then you need to have a date on which this applies from. I.E say any NAP's made AFTER 11th July will no longer be considered legal.

Cynic is right, 100%. And it should be implemented that all NAPs/Protections made before the set date be enforced.

That way the game becomes more like what Ched intended it to be (fair enough), and is handled in a way that's fair to everyone.. Which is what -should- be the main priority here.

This is basically just another way for staff to have less to do.

That's it, it has nothing to do with being a war game etc...

I agree.
If protectorscould be fedded for that, it would be a mess, cause everyone could report if they was being hosped, even if they protectors where trying to end wars.
Protection as much to do with honour and after all this time, its not hard to see who can and who CANT protect in TC.

listen up,

protection is one thing

If you're paying a faction full of lvl 25s to protect you and HT declares on you....wtf do you THINK is gonna happen? you're gonna pay again.....

on the OTHER hand....HT declares on you, they understand you've had the SHIT warred out of you recently, they agree to end it and give you a 6month NAP for 5mil instead their 20mil surrender fee....

that is a VALID contract, if written right, would be EASY for even the laziest of staffers to read and say "Yep, sorry mikk, you agreed to this, you can't war them for 5 more months" if it was reported they reneged on the contract

One ideia about NAP:
Code it in factions.
Have the possibility to choose a option for NAP, and other for value and time of NAP.
That way, all NAP will be logged.
Time, value and ID of factions will be logged.

I kinda agree with the staff that they cannot control how you feel about how you were protected. However, an idea to consider (which may have been considered) is to set up a protection system within the factions.

i.e. you send cash to a faction and they agree to accept it and on receipt of the cash their faction cannot attack you for a predeisgnated time. So it would go like this:

weaker faction sends cash + sets time limit for protection.

stronger faction reviews cash and time limit and accepts or denies. If denies all cash sent back to weaker faction. (options to set up alternative arrangements could be put here so stronger faction can increase amount and send it back to be reviewed) If they accept then cash is taken from weaker factions bank and stronger faction cannot attack weaker faction for that time period.

3 things that would probably be required.
1. If cancelled all of the cash is returned.
2. weaker faction cannot attack stronger faction for the same period of time.
3. cash is not taken from faction until it is agree (else cash could get stuck in limbo!)

Ive come up with a briliant idea - ANYONE who is currently engaged in a NAP has to be fully refunded by the aggressor faction, and give the money back to the NAP affected faction.

That sounds fair doesnt it? i mean, if they are now null and void, the players who put their money in deserve a refund dont they?

so this is a forum signature eh? just looks like a text box to me
