Again we've got people attempting to take over accounts. This time using alternative email accounts. Please remember at no time will any member of Torn City staff ask for your user name or password. Below is a copy of a mail sent to me by a player who will remain nameless. Please note that this mail is not from us. If you receive an email like this delete it. If you receive a mail through torn city asking for your username or password, report it to us. We will deal with it.

Subject: Torn City Account Verification
Date: Fri, 6 Jul 2007 22:21:30 -0700 (PDT)
Dear *******,
Hey! Thanks for playing Torn City, we hope you are having a great time
playing! As you may know, there has been an outbreak of cheating, scamming, and multi accounts. To solve this problem we are requiring all players to verify there account information. Any accounts not verified will be deleted on Friday at 8:30 TC Time. Please click reply and enter your password and username below.
Your Username -
Your Password -
After verifying your password and username, click here to login - http://www.torncity.com
Thanks again,
Torn City Staff

*edit*
Apparently the above post was confusing some users, since the number of mails I've received asking questions. I will try to clarify things here. The above copy mail is not real. It was sent from a player to another player in hopes of gaining access to their account.
The reason I posted a copy of the mail is so you would know what to to look for if you received a similar one.
Keep your password private. There is no reason for any TC staff member to ask for your password for any reason. If we need to verify something, we already have the means to do so.
I am sorry for any confusion this may have caused to you, the players, but I want you all to understand and be notified when there is an issue like this so you do not compromise your account. Enjoy your game play everyone. Remember have fun.

Losers. I hope anyone trying to take over other peoples accounts get struck by lightening. I think everyone should have to set new pw's just incase someone already knows them and the remember me should be removed. I know it would be an inconvience, but its better safe than sorry. Or recovery questions should be set. So if someone gets your pw and changes it, you have questions set to get your account back by putting the first pw ever used in the used pw and set a new pass. Just a thought though.

You can prevent this by NOT adding your email details in your displayed personal info, and only give it (and you msn or yahoo) out to trusted friends.
