I would suggest for all of those who want to listne to the radio while on tc, listen to the radio, or better yet http://pandora.com There are way to many liabilites and risk versus the reward or gain from this endevor.
This all depends on the music we are going to get.
Not everyone likes the same crap that the DJ's would play.
So may i suggest multiple radio channels.
One for rock related, one for pop related, one for R&B etc....
If there is only to be one channel can it just be rock ?
And not everybody likes rock (well most don't), do we?
You should probably add "FLUENT IN ENGLISH" I wouldn't (presuming I'd be interested wasting bandwith on this) listen to a indian speaking in french with a russian accent now.. would I?
For my counter-strike clan we had a radio and I was a DJ, but used Sam Broadcaster which is pretty cool, but it took a while to get the kinks out, but it did really well, so I think this is a good idea.
Eh.....others have tried this on other games. I mean don't get me wrong....it's a great idea....but....I am gonna go on a limb here and say it will be a bust Won't be enough real intrest.
I'd do it. I don't have experience with Virtual DJ Software, but I'd learn real quick.
And...I probably need to get an IRL job, so that may hinder my chances.
I think it's a great idea.
Alucard's Death Metal Hour.
BAAAAD IDEA!!! Don't get me wrong, it's an original idea, and I'm all for music, god knows I have enough of it on my machine I could DJ four hours with my eyes closed and not even get through a quarter of it, but it'll eat up bandwidth if you run it through here, and like someone said in one of the first posts, you can call it 'mix radio' but you're still not going to be able to satisfy all the players. Too many will complain for it to be worth it really. And multiple stations.... just go ahead and close down the game because doing that (the multiple stations) will kill any chance for the game to run at all. Of course this is all based on the radio being broadcast through here, on this (these) server(s).
In original and expansionistic thinking, it's a great idea. Practically though, it's a baaad one. Sorry, but I can't get behind it. There is also the old expression of 'improving a thing into a failure'.
