Just for the record, I have never made any posts of this kind and was not involved in this in any way. That being said, in addition to discrimination being misspelled, it is also being wrongly applied. A fundimental requirement for a truly free society is freedom of expression. If someone dislikes any discrete group of people for any reason, that is their right by law. The fact that you don't agree with their opinions don't make them wrong, and you right simply because current trends of "political correctness" are against it. Anyone has the right to dislike the color of your skin, your religion or lack of it, your nationality, your heritage, your family, and yes - your sexual orientation for no reason at all. It only becomes discrimination when they use that dislike to unfairly deprive you of your rights, in other words you have to actually be harmed by it. I hate to break it to all of you who have no idea what basic freedoms actually mean, but you have no divine right to not hear things that you don't like, or don't agree with. Freedom from being offended by other peoples opinions has never been a right in any civilized society, and has more to do with peoples own tender feelings and misinterpretation of their rights.

Maybe instead of being so eager to "educate" people on what their opinions ought to be, some of you should educate yourselves on what your rights realy are instead of making them up to suit your needs. Freedom is never free, and perhaps we should have a better understanding of what generations of our forefathers have worked for, and fought and died for, so we have the ability to speak freely. It is the responsibility of each individual reader NOT to ask for censorship, but to read those opinions and make an intelligent decision whether it was written by a wise man or an idiot and heeding it or discarding it accordingly.

Stuffing cotton in your ears is never the solution. The next voice that is censored might be yours, and that is why freedom of expression is protected by those who truly value freedom.

So, we play a game in which we comitt serious offenses (steal, arms trafficking, hacking, assaults, drug dealing..) and we're actually worried about discrimination? I'm am not saying I advocate the fact that there is discrimination, but I do believe that it should be defined in a more exact manner. We're failing to see the irony of playing a game where the sole purpose is to destroy the next person, with weapons, chaining hospital time..ect but worried about someones feelings being hurt over a comment on the internet in a faceless enviroment. It is the person's choice to disclose ANY personal information as to who and what they are / stand for. They should know doing this over the internet can have reprecussions...just something to think about.

Don't comment on someone's spelling, and then make spelling mistakes yourself. That's pretty silly.

Even though I'm not homosexual, I still strongly agree with this rule. I respect all people not by sex, or religion, but for the person they are as an individual as we all should.

And just to comment on the Freedom of Speech argument; this isn't a country/democracy/etc, this is an online game - it doesn't apply in this context.

It's up to Admins/Staff to draw the line (which they've now done).

I wonder do we really need this rule?
We already have a rule that we should seperate our personal life with TC.
If someone says "I am a homo", he or she is breaking that rule and deserves to be punished and its solely their fault being discriminated for declaring themselves homosexual.

Edited for misunderstanding..

You seem to be missing the point; you are suggesting that someone saying you're a homo is actually an insult...

And with all due respect, I shouldn't (nor should anyone else regardless of their orientation) have to NOT show my orientation because there are people in this game who compare homosexuality to paedophilia.

If they say they are homos in RL. It has nothing to do w/ TC. No problem at all.

But if they say it in TC, its breaking the rule because they are bringing their RL issue into TC.

So my point is, if they express their gayness ( or whatever ) in TC, they deserve to be discriminated.

I see what you're saying but (obviously) disagree.

So I know loads of people who have expressed their straightness in TC, should I discriminate against them?

You dont get what i mean.
I didnt say they should be discriminated, did I? And I myself never would do that... nobody should be discriminated by showing their straingtness or gayness or bisexuality....Its just their problem.
But IF they get discriminated by exposing themselves, its their fault. Thats what I mean.

And if you disagree this again, I cant say anything.

We always agree to disagree, dont we?

I can't agree to disagree when I think you're completely wrong

It's THEIR fault for discriminating. That's like telling a battered wife it's her fault for not cooking her husband eggs the way he likes it...

Also there shouldn't be any discrimination against fat people or tall people or short people or skinny people.

Or ugly people. Especially ugly people.

Um, that would have no context here whatsoever. He's right. If there is a rule stating not to bring your personal life into TC, then don't bring your personal life in to TC. If you do, you deserve to get flamed for it because you're breaking A stated rule, homosexual or not. My roommate is gay, my older room mate is gay, I have no problem with that. They however in RL don't go prancing around saying 'HEY LOOK AT ME I'MMMMMMMMM GAAAAAAY'. Just as much as you don't see a striaght person walking around just saying 'HEYYYYY LOOK AT ME I'MMMMMMMM STRAAAAIGHT.'

I don't like people who say that others should be banned for what they have to say. Can we get THEM banned? How is that different? As I said, be careful who you want censored as you may be next.
